  1. DOnt be too quick to judge this Tub as another of the old Gulf Coast Tubs. People seem to want to refer you to the fact they are made by Gulf Coast and the history of issues people have had with them. The simple fact is that the issues with Gluf Coast spas (whether product or warrantee etc) have been to do with tubs made prior to the end of 2007/early 2008 when Gulf Coast ended their partnership with Hydro Spa. (Hydro Spa was the actual manufactuere and any search on the you will find an abundance of issues and Gulf Coast problem stems from this). Tatum Manufacturing make custom lines, and Gulf COast is now being bought in-house and manufactuered and supported by them, with a name change in the works to get away from the old bad history ascociated with the Hydro Spa days. So that said, the manufacturing quality should be much better. Look at any lines made by Tatum and there isnt much in the way of problems. Design issues on seating on the other hand are a hard one. The Lazboy doesnt look as comfortable as other tubs in my opinion when you look closely at the seat,.. but that said even the most expensive so called high end tubs I have found were not always that comfortable. SO the problem is really these need to be wet tested and with the COstco limited model at least, you have to buy before you try. ANyone whos bought one I'd be interested in the feeback. (If you look at the H2O series also made by Tatum and is very close to the Lazboy, people comment on the comfort and features. but im not sure how differnt the seat design is.)
  2. If it is new and the warranty is therefore full then there is no way you'll get it for $5-6k IMO. If I were the dealer and you offered me $5-6k I'd smile, say "no thanks" and wouldn't even counter until you made a reasonable offer. If I'm the dealer, whether its written off or not is irrelevant to the customer IMO, its all about what I think I can get for it versus what a new '08 goes for. As a customer I'd probably offer $7k (which would be a great deal if the warranty is full) knowing there is no way they will take it but hopefully that will start the ball rolling. Now if this was a floor model everything changes. Thanks for the feedback. Its hard to tell, you see lots of Spa places with sales of up to 50% of last years stock, but granted it depends on the make and model, some are better quality. DO you know anything about the 06 model versus the -07 or 08 models?
  3. I have a local dealer (Canada) that has an '06 Niagara in stock, I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is between the '06 and the '07-08 model. Is there any change? ANy known issues? And what would be a reasonable price for this if its indead new and not a floor model? They are so far asking a lot for a 2 year old model that would have been written off in the 07 tax year anyway ($8900. '08 is $9900 list before negotiating). I would have thought that 50% or the original list price would be a typical asking price, so maybe around $5-6k. I Appreciate any information on this model and prices.
  4. I am currently looking to buy a hot tub for the new house that I move into in 2 weeks. Im pretty analytical about these things and try to research the background on the manufactures, any reviews/feedback (positive and negative, I think you have to try and balance opinions out a little) specifications, warrantee and of course pricing, along with testing to make the most informed decision I can. I have a few things that I really want,.. 2 pumps, +circulating pump, Ozonator, lighting and possibly a stereo, to seat about 6 people. Im not that keen on loungers based on what Ive heard from friends that have had them in the past. Right now I have narrowed it to various models from Caldera, Hotsprings (& their new limelight line), Sundance. I did consider Beachcomber, but am not having much luck with pricing from the dealer I visited and have read some conflicting info on warranty issues. Now I also have to point out im very price sensitive right now due to the house purchase and another unexpected expense that just hit me in the past week, making my decision more difficult. my budget is in the $6000 - $8000 CAN range, and I'd honestly I'd really be stretching myself to pay $8k. SO with that I have started revising the models I was looking at again,.. realling trying to get the best reasonable deal is an important factor. Caldera: I have a price from a dealer here (Canada) on a Caldera C45S (07) for $6400 with lifter, steps etc., for $6k I may live with the lounger, but the lighting is only the 1 multi colour light. They have an 06 Niagara, but im not sure of the spec for 06. I do like the current model quite a lot but cant afford the price they want for the 08's. an 06 would have been written off by now as a loss anyhow, but they want $8900 for it. What is the 06 model like? is it the same spec? What is a reasonable price for what is now a 2 year old model, even if its brand new. If its a floor model then what is reasonable? (I was told new from the computer inventory but hey you never know!) Of all Ive looked at and tested this seems one of the most comfortable. Sundance: Had looked for some 07 780 Chelsea's and should be getting a price in the next day or 2, but the dealer seems on the high side even with his "aggressive priced deal", the 680 Hartford (08) with all options, steps, lifter $8399 + tax. Its not bad, but when you compare the price to the C45 or the 06 Niagara I know Im paying for a current model,.. is this a good price for Canada? still seems high based on prices ive seen just south of the border in NY, IL.. Hotsprings: The Grandee -- may be too high as Ive only found 08 models and they are $9900 + tax in Canada. Anyone had a good price? what is reasonable for Canada? Limelight: Pulse, yes its new and no matter what anyone says, the pump and other parts are actually fairly decently spec. Ive seen weaker in their other models. $8399 +tax. another $1300 for the stereo! I know these are new, but from any dealers out there, what is a reasonable price? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I would like to be able to make a decision within the next 2 weeks.
