Thanks again - the information is great & helpful. Having additional input from actual pool owners maked me feel better asking all the questions to the contractor. I will ask for recent references and installs. One pool contractor has already been marked off the list - he simply wanted to quote me by email. I asked him to schedule an appointment with me to meet at my house; review the yard, discuss what I want against what is or is not possible with my septic. Bottom line, we talked 3 times, emailed a few times but he has not bothered to discuss coming out to the house. I'm not comfortable with that at all. I want to thank you so very much for the info. I'm glad you mentioned the 1 1/2 HP pump, the guy here is telling me 1 HP is fine. I will stand my ground and request a 1 1/2 HP minimum or he wont be installing my pool. I am so doing research on these installers, unforetuneatly - the license requirements here are a minimum at best. I have asked some of the install contractors for a minimum of 3 install references and I did request too see any recent work. Thanks for the pool equiptment info as well, it helps alot. I live just west of Atlanta and I am shopping for a fiberglass pool. I've been sent info on Viking Pools, Aloha, San Juan and Tallman. The licensing requirements out here are scarce to say the least. I've have been doing internet research but I think its time I hear from actual pool owners who have already experienced my future dealings. I need any advise, suggestion, comment - good or bad, I want to hear it all. I know nothing about pool pumps, cleaners etc - they are trying to sell me everything under the sun. What do I really need, and what brands stand behind their product? I am here - lay it on me, the good the bad and the ugly. Thanks in advance for all the input.
