Found A Blister In My 7-month Old Caldera Tub :(
Voodoo replied to Voodoo's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
Thanks Pathfinder, Naturally I agree, I'm just wondering what our dealer might want to do. Ours was a floor model sold as 'new', I think we got about $500 off for that. We've had a handful of little problems that needed service visits but the dealer has been responsive in the past. It just doesn't seem likely that they'd say 'Sure, we'll replace it!' rather than offer to repair it. I suppose if Caldera makes it easy for them then they might. -
Found A Blister In My 7-month Old Caldera Tub :(

I guess I should mention it is the smooth white marble finish -
While draining/cleaning our Caldera Tahitian I noticed a blister or bubble about 1" in size, or the size of a thumb. The tub was empty so I pressed the blister and water squirted out. It's located in one of the 'heels' of the lounger position. Anyway it's less than a year old and has a long manufacturer's warranty. I haven't notified our dealer yet, but what should I expect? A repair? A new tub? Thanks for your feedback!

Yellow Tub Stain Due To Ozone Generator?
Voodoo replied to Voodoo's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
Wow, Thanks for all the quick replies. Fast Gloss? I'll check into that Thanks! We'll also take a water sample into our spa dealer for analysis. - - - - We had another thought in the meantime.. The stained area is directly above the heater / electronics area. Back in November we had a runaway heater problem (not exactly runanway, but we'd find the temp as high as 110F though we set it for 101. the dealer promptly fixed it. Not sure if it ever got higher than 110 but we'll take a look in the 'box' and see if there's any heat damage. Thanks again... Pat -
Yellow Tub Stain Due To Ozone Generator?
Voodoo replied to Voodoo's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
Hi Soakerman, We always add chems in the same spot, in front of the filter intake while the pumps are on.. and that's at least a few feet away from where we see the yellow stain. Our bleach routine is 1/4 cup weekly, and another after use. -
Hi Folks, We just noticed a yellowish stain inside of our tub.. it is underwater opposite the circ pump/ozonator outlet, and is about 10" in diameter. Could the ozonator spray have caused this?? The tub is acrylic and white in color, the stain is like a nicotine yellow. My wife tried wiping out the stain with a sponge but it wouldn't budge. Details: - 6 month old Caldera Tahitian, white acrylic interior, 360 gal. - Water has been crystal clear and odor free. - Use of pool has been minimal during winter.. not more than 2 persons/visits per week. - Used normal chlorine based chems for 1st 4 months, - Used Clorox plain bleach for past 2 months (1/4 cup weekly or after use, occasional 1/2 cup to shock). - During the winter we only do a 'full' round of chemicals once per month (everything other than the bleach) - Our water hardness is low, our test strips during the winter months have been pretty close to ideal. - Chemicals are always added while pumps are running, and not in the area of the stain spot. Your comments are apreciated! Thanks Pat

Problems With Temp Control And Lights?
Voodoo replied to seattlemama's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
Did your temperature problem ever come back? After a month of ownership, we saw our Caldera Tahitian go up to 110 degrees (its set for 101). We reset everything and turned off the heater breaker for a while to let it cool. Next day it ran up to 105 degrees. Later, after more resets it seemes to have stabilized to the 101 we originally set. We have been monitoring it with a floating thermometer to confirm the readings. I'm just wondering if we both are having intermittent failures which allows the temp to rise too high. Thx Pat -
Thanks all, I wanted to be sure before I tell the dealer.

Our waterfall is out of the way over the skimmer, at the foot end of the lounger. Although a totally unnecessary feature, when in the lounger I find my wife and I raising our feet so that the waterfall rushes between our toes so it can be fun.

Thanks Spatech, I guess you're saying I should have a 2-speed pump like the manual states; but I don't understand what that would have to do with the waterfall, whis is controlled by a flow valve.. the manual says 'Press JET2 button once for low speed, and again for high speed', but makes no reference to the waterfall. The circ pump is defintely a 3rd pump. My guess is the controller is a different model, or setup incorrectly, or they installed the wrong pump#2, or this is a model variation. Again its not a problem, but I'd like to understand why we only have one speed. I'd also like to hear from any fellow Tahitian owners Thanks!

Why Is Temp Display Always 1 Degree Below Setpoint?
Voodoo replied to Voodoo's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
Thanks D.P. A few more bits; I'd have thought a mass of 330 gallons would hang around 102 for a while, at least long enough to spot that temp on the display more often. And when it reads 101 and we get in the tub (pumps still off) we can always feel the heat coming from the circulator. (24-hour circulator with ozone). In our case we only had 40 amps available, so the control box is jumpered to use the heater or the pumps alternately, never both simultaneously. But this shouldn't really matter since it sits unused for most of the day. I'll check the manual again to see if there's something I'm missing. -
The tub works great.. the jets are powerful.. but the Jet-2 button only has one speed (full speed we presume). The manual says it has 2 speeds. Not that we would do anything about it, we're 100% happy and don't think we need a lower speed option. Do other Tahitians works this way? Thanks!

Newbie here, thanks to this forum for the pre-purchase education. We've had our Caldera Tahitian for almost a month and notice that the displayed temp is almost always 1 degree below our setpoint. We've been checking the temp maybe three times a day, yet it hardly ever displays the 102 (or whatever temp) we've set it at.. instead it shows 101 degrees 99% of the time. Here in Mass. the ambient temp has been in the 70s. The tub has a good cover and is used once per day or less. This week we didn't use it for three days, but monitored the temp and saw the same -1 reading. Have yet to see our first electrical bill. Is this normal? Thanks for any comments!
