I'm in search of a responsible pool builder in Palm Beach county. Preferably one who I can talk too when I need to. Every quote we have is from a salesman working for different pool companies. We would like to hire a builder who is always available and who is personally involved in our project. We have heard the stories like "never being able to reach the builder and noone ever returns calls or the salesman doesn't care once the pool is sold"

Does anyone know of a good builder for my area

thanks

We hired Metric Pools in Boynton Beach and we had ZERO problems. I had similar requirements as you prior to building my pool. The owner is there from Estimate to final inspection. These guys are so good you won't need to call them for anything. Everyday like clockwork they were there working. They charged us approx 10 % more than other builders were quoting but it was well worth it! Out of 7 quotes @ average 58k for pool/spa and WORKS they priced at 65k. My last pool was a friggin nightmare and I chose the lowest bid and that was why. The company was never there and after 9 months of helllish nagging and endless fights we got our pool(and still unfinished). This was way different and to think that it was just that small difference in price that made such a huge difference in our lives. This time it was just 2 MONTHS later and we were swimming.

GOOD lUCK

I have entertained different ideas and estimates from pool builders in the West Palm Beach area for 3 months now and the only company who really seemed as if they cared was this company Metric Pools. I could not believe how they approached my quotation. The first meeting was short and sweet where the owner met us, looked at the yard and gathered measurements. He then returned a few days later for a 2nd time with a detailed estimate and spent 3 hours explaining what we would be getting for our money.

We have since met with Metric's references and were very surprised at how emotional their customer's were about their new pools.

Although their bid was higher than average my wife and I are finding it very difficult to not give them the job.

We have sat with Hackl Pool construction, Cushing Pools and Metric Pools. Hackl is the most expensive with exceptional references, Cushing and Metric Pools came in a little lower with just as good references. We did like the way Metric approached the Estimating process and how much time he spent with us. Cushing seemed thorough yet not that concerned about our needs. Still it is hard to choose. Will keep you updated.

Unfortunately, you are really going to need to do your homework. Word of mouth is usually the best indicator. You are on the right track though in looking for a builder. Most pool companies send out a salesman who sells you the pool. After that, the salesman is gone and completely has no control over what is going on in your yard. The complaints start there, as the pool gets passed on to someone else who then passes it on to someone else and so on. Pool companies have notoriously prescribed to this operational standard as they have not adapted to the times. Customers are spending a lot of money and they want to be treated like it. The pool companies still live in a 70s mentality, where they are right and you are wrong. A true builder is ideal but may be hard to find. Actually, they usually fall under "custom" pool builder. Often, these guys worked for one of the companies at some point and finally had enough. Good luck on your quest!

I was lucky to use www.liquidartcustompools.com Not only did they call me and email me the day I requested info...I became a good friend of the owner.

The whole process was pretty good and he gave me a computer rendering of my pool in a few days which no other pool company did (one guy hand drawed a crappy pool for me which turned me off). So if you are in florida and need a great pool builder or pool construction company, check them out. They also took care of my permits too, which was great.
