lmholmes11 Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 My wife and I bought a pool with a 20x40 inground 30,000 gallon pool. We did open it last year but had bad luck with algae and we lost power when we were out of town for two weeks and it was near the end of season so we just closed it early. A couple notes: We live in farm land, and we have hard well water. So today I started the hose outside filling the pool up to the right level before we start cleaning it. Ill brush the sides, leave the bottom alone so I can vacuume up the settled sediment on the bottom. Now, should I just vacuume to waste while cleaning the first time this year? Then fill the pool back up, then start treating it with clorine, shock it, etc. Or, should I shock it first before vacuuming it out the first time so I dont have to fill the pool twice?? Also, does the water temp need to be a certain temperature before shocking and adding clorine? Im sure ill have more questions but this is all i can think of for now. Thanks all! Quote
