Hey all,

Bit of help needed. Recently got a leak on the union coming out one side of the heater. It's a balboa system. Anyway it was only leaking when the jets were on. Tried tightening it, wouldn't go any tighter. Well it did actually and the leak wasn't as bad but still leaking. Then the one on the other side of heater started leaking aswell, more of a constant drip when I started messing trying to tighten all unions (by hand)

Drained the tub, took both piped either side of heater off and replaced the seals (gaskets) that were in there looking a little worn.

Anyway now when I put them back on and hand tighten them, as soon as start filling the tub with water the one of them is still leaking (constant drip) the other doesn't seem to be but not had chance to run jets so wouldn't know if they do under pressure which I'm presuming they will.

Anyone got any tips about putting these pipes on and tightening...is there an art lol to not get drips?? There doesn't appear to be any cracks in union ends or anything??

Many thanks

You need to put some lube on the gaskets. I use Magic Lube

Great for sealing and lubricating o-rings, gaskets, motors, bearings and water filters. Teflon based Magic Lube will not cause leaking like the old petroleum based products. It can be used in wet or dry applications and can withstand any temperature up to 425 degrees. Completely waterproof, Magic Lube is compatible with most kinds of metal, rubber and plastic. Specifically formulated for pool and spa uses, it forms a durable adhesive film that is chemically resistant.
