When I initially turn on my pool heater, the flame is about 90% blue with a little orange at the tips. However after about 3-5 minutes the flame turns completely orange. I've had two technician's out who can't seem to isolate the problem. The burners have been cleaned of any spiders, there are no clogs, etc..., and everything according to them looks fine. The heater does have a hood installed..., not sure if that makes a difference. The heater is 3 years old. It may have been like this since the day it was installed..., I can't say for sure.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, Welcome to the forum.

Your heater cant breathe. specifically it cant exhale. You either have a vent cap that is too restrictive, or your heat exchanger has sooted up. I wouldn't run the heater like that as it is probably running hot. Have your service guy look at the exchanger.
