Sktwizz Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I am a new owner of a saltwater 42,000 gallon pool. I have two main issue first is that although my cell is working there is no free cholrine being produced. I have called circupool and they said the cell is working. Second mostly like from the first issue last night we got rain and my pool went from clear to brown green here are my water readings Free Cl 0 CYA 100 PH 8.4 Total Cl 3.2 Salt 3100 Any ideas?!? Quote
toofast Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Well your CYA is really high, meaning you will need a TON of chlorine to keep her in good shape, right now you are sitting at 0. I would try to get your chlorine levels up ... perhaps a few gallon of bleach and then retest. How does circupool know your cell is working ? Quote
Pool Tiles Caprici Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Use chlorin and sodium bi-sulphate to cut down the CYA and ph. Quote
chem geek Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Chlorine does not cut down CYA. Only water dilution/replacement lowers the CYA level. As for lowering the pH, using Muriatic Acid would be better than using dry acid (sodium bisulfate) because you don't want to add lots of sulfates to the water since it can be damaging to plaster surfaces.
