jkazam1 Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Hello everyone! New to spas, first one purchased and installed last week. (South Seas 860L) Filled with 450 gal. of well water, brought all water parameters in line, but could not get a chlorine reading, and water appeared moderately cloudy. Have been shocking all week and adding chlorine, and can not get a residual reading. Yes, testing at the dealer twice produced the same results. Now, when delivered, my wife waxed it prior to filling with car wax. Any relationship to my problem???? If so, what to do??? Thanks in advance..... Quote
chem geek Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Yes, the car wax is composed of wax, oils, petroleum distillates, resins and/or polymers some of which react with chlorine and others that are insoluble in water so would make the water cloudy. You can try using a product like Spa System Flush that should help dislodge these from the walls and piping and you can also wipe surfaces as well. You'd then drain and refill to start over. Quote
