andi1379 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 We are replacing our 10 yr old pool this year with a new one. The company that I want to go through said that we HAVE to take down the deck that is halfway around it. Mind you, the deck is also 10 yrs old and if taken down will probably have to be replaced as well. We do not want to do this. Is this a usual request? Or do they just not want to have to deal with climbing under it? Like I said, I really want to use this company. They are very reputable in our area and offer very high quality pools and installs at a fair cost. But if I am gonna have to shell out another 4 G's for a new deck because they are lazy, then im looking elsewhere. Please someone tell me if this is a must. Quote
brianthepoolman Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 I usually would try to convince my customers to atleast take the first two feet of deck off by the pool, not only is it very difficult to work around but your new pool will probably never match up to your old deck. this way you'll be one step ahead when finishing the job. If you like the company and feel good with them then use them, don't sound like their out of bounds. Quote
andi1379 Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 The deck is set up with the wood running vertically toward the pool. If they were laying Horizontal with the pool it would not be an issue. We do not have the funds this year to replace both. So, its have the pool installed with the deck up or no pool Quote
Apollo217 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Most competent installers should be able to butt it up real close to the deck. Is the old pool 48" height or 52" Quote
Apollo217 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 They should be able to line it up close then. Make sure you purchase a 52" pool this time also Quote
andi1379 Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 Ok, I guess I will just tell the company we want to use that it has to be installed with the deck up or we will find someone else willing to do it. Thanks for the help! Quote
