fishernut Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 howdy, I traded an atv for a 6 person hot tub. All we read about monthly bill increase prior was 25-45 dollar. Our normal bill is 110-120, now it's 235 and 230 for our first 2 months with th tub. Any insight as to this tremendous increase? Please tell us how we can reduce our energy consumption. Runs on 50a circuit. Kept at 101-103 We live in Minnesota. Thanks Dan Quote
Spa_Guru Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Let's suppose for a moment that your spa is operating normally and well insulated. New hot tub owners tend to tub a lot. Time spent with the top off is time spent heating the sky, regardless of brand. "Average" use is 3 times a week for 30 min. Quote
arches2 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 and it's winter. Mine was $10-15 this past summer. this winter it's close to $80. Using about 10kwh a day. Quote
spatech (the unreal one) Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 The weather is cold. Its new for you so you're probalby using it a lot. Not all spas are equally insulated. Quote
Ja4496 Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Without knowing what tub you have, how big, how we'll insulated etc... It's hard to say but I have a hot spot rhythm 220v in the NC mountains where the weather fluctuates from 50 in the day to high 20s at night and it costs me about 30-40$ a month to keep at 104 using mine 3-4 times a week for 45 min Quote
