My 2 speed pump on my Caldera C45 sometimes will not start in slow speed (it'll hum only), thus kicking out the controls and stopping all the cycles on the tub.

I have tested the capacitor and it is fine.

The exact motor/pump for the spa is $450+

Is there any reason why this one won't work?

I am looking for a reasonable cost replacement. I don;t mind going ahead and putting a new pump on the spa, It is about 6 years old.

Any other ideas, options, or assistance is appreciated!

True pump BHP or brake horsepower can be determined by the amps the motor draws.

Amps X Volts X 0.0013410220 = Brake Horsepower.

Therefore.... 11.5 X 240 x .001341 = 3.7 BHP and 8.5 amps comes to 2.73BHP

BHP = The energy a pump produces briefly at stall. This number is about twice what continuous HP is.

Knowing this formula saves you from the huge amount of BS advertised in spa horsepower.
