Hi all,

I just got a Hayward SP3400 VSP. What I'm looking for is the best speed set up for the Phoenix, Az. area. i have a 17000 GAL. pool and a Hayward C5030 swimclear filter. There is a 2" connection to the pump and 2" from the pump to the filter. Coming out of the filter is a 2" pipe reduced to 11/2 going back to the pool.

Thanks for your time and help.

2075RPM - 2425RPM (60% - 70%) will circulate roughly 19k - 25k gallons in 8 hours on the ecostars assuming your systems TDH (Total Dynamic Head) is around 40ft - 50ft(which is a more than likely an over estimation. You are probably more in the 20 - 30 ballpark).

If possible, you may want to run it at a lower speed for a longer period of time if your system can still generate enough flow (40% - 50% range). The way that variable speed pumps are designed to save energy, and thus american dollars, is through using low speed over longer periods. Once you start raising the speed, you start to lose the savings.

No matter what they require less energy than single speed pumps, though.
