Hi, new to the forum and to pool ownership. It has been very difficult to maintain the proper chemistry balance. Put in an inground gunite pool and spa last summer. @23,000. gallons, salt filter.

I am having a hard time keeping chlorine up and ph down. Even though the pool has been pretty clear. This past week a very heavy white bubbling film began pouring into the pool through the spa filling into the pool. It had what I would describe as a very "lime" smell. After awhile it dissipated but the smell continued to be strong for a few days. It was as if there had been a clog somewhere that "blew through". Seemed fine for a few days and then this morning again, some white film on the top of the pool again. My husband turned off the filter because it was getting worse.

I am so afraid that something is mechanically wrong with this pool, we already had the pool jet blower actually burn out and be replaced. I have taken samples to a pool store and have done what they have asked with quick cures but back to no chlorine and hi ph and alkaline. I have the salt cell producing at 90% and it has dropped to 2.7! I live in Delaware where the heat has been extremely high lately and rain the last few days. And originally, any powdered chemicals including DE was put in dry, we now make sure to dilute in a bucket of water.

What are the latest chem readings? Strips often lie. Pool stores want to sell you stuff, often not what is needed.
