I believe they are called springtails, similar to gnats. Try spraying them with soapy water. I heard about these but have never seen them myself- shock doesnt seem to kill them but the soapy water will.

Agree with Sutrno55, they look like springtails, a familiar nemisis of mine. I haven't really seen them this year, but I've had plent of sweat bees!

While there are certainly those that say that shemical management isn't a very effective long-term management strategy, I've had success with it in the past. You want to treat the soil and landscaping beds in proximity to the pool 2-3 times. That should eliminate the problem - for this season. Try to respond at the first sign of them next year to avoid such a large infestation. Naturally, take all the usual precautions when treating: spray when the air is calm, minimize overspray, etc.
