cindbins Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Okay, I am so new at this and my gut is telling me what I think I already need to know, but I would just like everyone's opinion anyways... We bought a used blow up ring intex that was 16x 42 and I brought in 2 yards of sand to level my backyard. Anyways, we got it three quarters full and it had probably five leaks in it. My four year old was devastated. So I went out and picked up the metal framed 15x42 intex. I worked very, very hard making sure my yard was level where the pool was. However, the feet for the pool have sunk in the sand and it is horrendously uneven now. On one side it's gotta be 4 inches. Is this something that is dangerous for us to swim in? Will it get us by for the summer and then next year (suggestions please) we can change it up so that it is level? My husband is beyond unhappy that we have already filled two pools and likely to be the third, but I do not want anything to happen to my daughter! So any kind of feedback I would be more than happy to receive! Quote
tnconsultant Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 I have just gone through a 2 week nightmare with the same exact experience.... plus some. Your pool really does need to be completely level or else it will put too much pressure on one side and could collapse. Intex instructions state not to use sand for leveling, yet everybody I called said to use sand. However, I know why Intex says not to do this. The sand under your pool will start washing away. I started off putting 30 bags of sand under mine to try to level it out. Then half of the pool sank by a full foot. I brought in 3 TONS of sand. Filled it up and same exact problem! So then I bought concrete blocks and put under the metal poles on the "low side." That made it a little better, but sand will still wash out as it rains and gets wet. Just be VERY VERY careful. It's not completely safe and may not make it thru the summer, depending on how bad your ground was originally uneven. Just don't depend on the sand to keep you safe. Quote
