18x33x54 Wilbar resin/aluminum pool being installed partially in ground, 2 1/2 feet below grade and with a deep end...Anyone see issues here?

We've determined where we are putting the heater, next to the pump on the deep-end corner of the pool. Anyone see a problem with having the skimmer at the deep end? We originally planned to put it at the shallow end, but that is the end nearest the patio and we thought we'd minimize the noise issue if we put it further away. Is this a bad idea? Should the skimmer always go nearest the entry point/shallow end?

Looking at the schematic from the manufacturer for below-grade installation, though, they are showing the pump installed above the skimmer level (sitting at grade). Hmmm. Are they assuming we would be using in-ground equipment? The text has no indication of this requirement. We are still planning on placing the (AGP) pump and heater below grade next to the pool, and hoping this isn't a mistake. I'm a little worried that the heater might not have enough air flow. We do have a plan to provide drainage for the area.

Construction has begun today! DH is excavating the space right now. Second scoop revealed irrigation water pipe precisely where we asked the sprinkler installers NOT to put it! So we shifted the whole operation over a foot and are hoping it all goes smoothly from here.
