alex_ales Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 The wife gives me the landscape plans which are ultra contemporary and is inclusive of a straight-line rectangular pool. Given the climate and price, I'm not going concrete. Given my distaste for the look of vinyl pools that try to be modern I'm not going vinyl. Fiberglass it is. Finding a dealer / installer in the GTA that does fiberglass pools is much like buying a grey market satelite systerm. Everyone seems very shaddy. San Juan has the biggest footprint up here, so that's where I started. Couldn't get a straight answer to much. Than I tried a smaller reseller / installer for San Juan who claimed to be "THE" expert. You'd think a fiberglass mold outside the office looking old enough to be a nest for raccoons would have been enough for me to walk ... no no, I had to go forward with the appointment. Like many in the business up here, these guys could sell me a fiberglass pool .. or a toilet .. or french fry truck. Whatever I wanted. Eventually I did my own reasearch on-line and determined that a Viking pool would be a better fit for me (Lakeshore mold.) Unfortunately not much different so far on finding a dealer / builder. Everyone I talk to trashes everyone else; everyone has a different process of install (which is very disturbing given how vital that part of the equation is.) The one shop I thought had a fairly knowledgeable guy tried to push Ozone water treatment on me so hard that it turned me off from them (I want salt.) Another guy that also seemed quite knowledgeable tried to push me towards a Barrier Reef pool which also creeped me out given I've yet to read anything positive about that outfit. Anyone have a better experience than I am in the Toronto area? Quote
PoolGuyNJ Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 You're doing fine. Keep control. They want to sell what they want you to buy. The competitiveness, as evident by the smack talking against the other fella, surprises me. There are many who don't understands sales apparently. Eventually, you find that professional. Until then, keep saving the money. Scott Quote
