Help With Above Ground Salt Water Pool

Hi All

We just purchased a house with an old above ground, salt water pool and the kids want me to get it working. I have never owned a pool or had any experience with one. It hasn't been used in a couple of years and the old liner has disintegrated. They had purchased a new liner which was left in the garage. I cannot find any paperwork on the pool or equipment. I probably should bring in a service company but money is real tight after buying the house so I will give it a shot.

I have cleaned out the old liner and weeds and would like to level the sand before putting in the new liner. According to the info on the liner box

L2 S52 1502 2801 the pool is a 15 x 28 and 52" deep. It has a J hook edge. At what level should the sand be below the line of the J where the liner hooks over?

Any and all advise appreciated. I will post pictures as the project moves forward.
