BillinKingstonSprings Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 My Hayward Super Pump stated acting up and finally went out today. I noticed a burning smell and the motor was really hot. I started watching it close and noticed it started leaking around the seal where the motor bolts to the housing. I turned it off and tightened the 4 bolts that connect the motor to the housing. When I turned it back on it stopped leaking but it still had the burning smell. I turned it off to back wash and when I turned it back on it sparked up where the motor connects to the basket housing and died. Is this something that can be repaired or do I need to replace the entire pump system. If I replace the pump what kind is the best to get. My pool is a 18x36 inground and the pipe size is 1.5". Thank you in advance I need to get it going asap. Quote
BillinKingstonSprings Posted August 21, 2010 Author Report Posted August 21, 2010 Purchased an AO Smith replacement pump and installed it today. Pool is working again and running smooth. Quote
