rstoomanyhobbies Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 I have an '04 Sarena Bay and plan to call D1 this week to learn about this but thought I would post here to get some info (or share it once I call). I have read that the ozone system that came w/ the spa has a finite lifespan - and it's apparently a lot less than the 5yrs that I've had the tub. So, does anyone know if it's serviceable or am I out $250+ for the new system ( 01565-0001 Ozone Can Assembly for Bay Collection/AFS19DT/(@Home 2010+)? I assume its pretty easy to replace the assy if one is mechanically/electrically inclined? Otherwise I can report my spa has been almost trouble free (a few jets failed/broke, the water feature is dang fragile when you have kids) and the cover that mine came with (3 section Sunstar) has been nothing but trouble - calling them this week too. rstoomanyhobbies Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 ah, now I see on the D1 parts page - I sure hope this fits mine! $50 vs $250. "01512-44 Ozone Replacement Chip Replaceable Corona Discharge Ozone Generating Ceramic Chip (part number 01512-44). This feature eliminates the expense of replacing the entire CD Ozone generator. To maintain optimal performance of your CD Ozone generator replace this ceramic chip every year. Replacement is as simple as removing a couple of screws and unplugging three wires Quote

The unit itself should last 2 years and it complete assembly, it is a plug and play connection and can be easily done by any end user. If you have any question, please call our Technical Support Dept at (800)345-7727 and one of guys will be happy toanswer any of your question. d1dennis2009 Quote
rstoomanyhobbies Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks for the info d1dennis. Not what I wanted to hear. This isn't mentioned at all in the owners manual as a periodic maintenance item. $250 per replacement isn't reasonable not to mention how "non-green" it is to dispose of the entire unit every two years. Seems it should be a warranty item or at least a designed retrofit / replacement kit should be made by D1. I'll do without it. Quote
THE SPA GUY Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 rstoomanyhobbies, Are you sure that the ozone is bad, have you tested with ozone test kit for about 16.00 . Also all manufacturers ozone units need to be replaced , some 2 years some 3 years some longer, the newer ones use the ultrapure plus with a replaceble bulb..... Quote
