Wilson Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Hi, Leslie's has the Hayward Swimpure Plus on sale. I'm thinking of getting a 25K Gal one for my 17K gallon pool. Is this a good fit? I have an old plaster pool. Thanks, Wilson Quote

I have an old plaster pool. Thanks, Wilson Personally I would go with the 40K model. I would not put the 25K one on a pool bigger than about 12-14K but it is a close call. However, the larger cell will translate into better pH control and lower operating costs in the long run. Quote
Wilson Posted July 30, 2010 Author Report Posted July 30, 2010 Thanks. One more question. How long does this kind of SWG last if it's well maintained? Quote
mickey4paws Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 I just wanted to add that I agree, I would go with the 40K one. My pool is 20K and we got the 40K cell. We run our pump 10 hours a day and the cell is set at 10% and things have been great. Quote
waterbear Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 average cell life is 5 years but YMMV. Oversizing the cell translates into longer cell life. I have seen cells die in a year or two when water chemistry is ignored and/or the cell is sized very close to the size of the pool and have seen some still going strong after 8 years when water chemisty is watched and the cell is oversized.
