I was asking the guy that installed all the pumping equipment for my swimming pool as to which of the two methods would be best used in the Hot tub. I have only used Chlorine in the pool but the dealer supplying the tub recommended Bromine for the tub as it's works longer at the higher temperatures that tubs work in, so I was looking a second opinion which I got but not the one I expected. According to him if you have senstitive skin the Bromine is more likely to cause itching and bring on the skin problems you might have.

Is this true because my wife does have a skin condition.

I don't think you can make a general statement that Bromine is more itchy. I personally react to Chlorine (tried the bleach-dichlor and gave up, after remembering that we quit using bleach in the laundry room for the same reasons). I seemed to tolerate Bromine a bit better, but still didn't like how the skin felt afterward. HOWEVER.. Have recently switched to Nature2 / MPS system, and really, really liking it. No smells or irritation for me whatsoever.

Tell me more about Nature 2/MPS system because I haven't hear about this.

I have tried both (bromine tabs and chlorine). The bromine caused my skin to be a little itchy after using the spa (even after a shower) even though I don't have sensitive skin at all. Another thing I also noticed with bromine is that the bromine smell was harder to get off my body after showering. The main advantage I see to bromine is that if you're lazy and forgetful it pretty much takes care of itself. Just put a bunch of tabs in a floater. I'm on my second day of my nature2 trial and so far it looks promising. New spa also has ozone so hopefully I could get away with using less.
