whitelee28 Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 Hello all. I am new to the forum and a new pool owner. I have is I recently bought an intex metal frame pool. 18' by 48". I purchased the salt system for the pool and a larger pump for the pool. Going from a 1500 gph to 4000 gph pump. My question is with the 4000 gph pump do I still need to run the salt system for the same amount of time listed for my pool? The book says 6 hours a day. Any advice would be much appreciated. Quote

Yes, while your filter run time will not need to be as high as before (266% more efficient pump)While it may only take your new pump 2 hours to circulate all of the water in your pool the SWG will not create chlorine faster because of this. I run mine 2-3 hours a day while the kids are in it and that works for us. We have a 16 'x 48" Ultra FRame wit the 4000gph pump and SWG, nearly the same setup as yours. Quote

I will continue to run the SWG as recommended. Quote
