Roby Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Hi all, my wife and I just installed our first above grnd pool with heat pump and aquatrol salt sys and have a few "greenhorn" questions. Our water chemistry is still not 100% bang on and I was wondering if it possible to disable the salt generation part of the aquatrol and just use the timer part to control the cir pump until we are ready. Thanks in advance. Roby Quote
rwhadley Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Yes, it can be done. Just go to the control panel and move the selector to "off". It will only generate in the auto or super cholrinate position. I would however try to get the water somewhat manageable before circulating through it. Just to keep it fairly clean and not fouled. Have your water tested first before you start adding anything. Add the amount of salt it calls for, and then shock it. Some may tell you that shocking is not necessary. I was told to just turn it to superchlorinate. That didn't work. Shock it first, then superchlorinate. Be careful not to "oversalt" your water. My aquatrol has a tendency to read about 500 ppm low.
