Kristy077 Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Hi everyone. I am new here to this forum and also to owning a swimming pool. I have a 12'x33" above ground swimming pool. I finished filling it up yesterday evening and added the chlorine tabs and some shock water. After a little while I noticed the bottom of the pool looked green and not white. I have well water so I have been reading some stuff online about it possibly being iron or copper in the water. I checked the test strip and all the readings are good. The chlorine level is good, the Ph is good also and the alkalinity is good. I was wondering if anyone had had this problem before and what can be done to make the bottom of the pool look clear again. The water is clear, when I stand on the front porch the bottom actually looks white but when I go outside and walk to the pool the bottom is green. I would like for the bottom of the pool to look white again. Was wondering if anyone knew what could be done about this. Thanks! Quote

Yes, we put some shock water into it yesterday and I had all ideas that wouldn't work and when I took the filter out it was yellow, we have iron in our well water. I am gonna try some Clarifier cause I have read that usually helps and I will also look for some chemicals that help with metal if the clarifier doesn't work. Quote
Kristy077 Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Also, is there any that you recommend? Thanks! Quote
britinusa Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 You would be better just using Proteam Metal magic. I am also on well water so each spring when I top up i need to use a small amount. Quote
