patmac Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Hi, We have a 24'x48" above ground pool with an old Hayward DE filter on it. It's been up and running for a few weeks, and this past week or so I noticed a 5-6 second cloudy burst coming out of the return on startup. I'm almost certain this is only after bumping. Someone at the local pool place said it could be from a cracked finger plate. Does this sound mechanical or chemistry related? Thanks for your time. Quote

waterbear Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Is the 'cloud burst' just air bubbles or is it DE going back into the pool? Quote
patmac Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 It's DE, cloudy, it doesn't shimmer in the sunlight like air bubbles would. Also, I'm certain now it only happens after bumping. If I shut the pump off, and when I restart I do not bump first, then no cloudy burst. Thanks Quote
