Just Bought A New Intex 12X36 Easy Set Pool

Hi,

Just registered. Great forum you guys have here.

I just bought and set up a 12'x36" Intex Easy Set pool yesterday. I dont know the first thing about pool maint. and the instructions are vague. I have a few questions that I hope can be answered here.

1. How long do I run the pump daily?

2. How often does the filter need to be replaced? (ballpark figure, weekly? once a season?)

I have more questions running around up there just cant think of them at the moment.

Run the filter as often as you want. Maybe a few times a week. Filter needs to be changed every 2 weeks.

The 12'x36" pool is around 1800 gallons, right? You could try using the dichlor/bleach method for chlorination, scaled up a bit. See these links:

For your pool, you'd want to start with about 1 lb of dichlor, used as needed (not all at once!) before switching to bleach.

"dichlor" means a form of granulated chlorine whose main (preferably only) ingredient look like "sodium dichloro-blahblah" and you should be able to find it at pool/spa stores or the pool dept of a big-box store. It's sold under a lot of brand names, so look at the ingredients.
