My three-foot concrete deck is cracked and chunks have spalled off in several places. I'd like to replace it, but I'm worried about the amount of work, cost and risk involved in having it removed, so I was wondering whether it is possible to have interlocking concrete pavers laid over top of it. I am planning to lift a paving stone patio next summer anyway because it has heaved, so could raise the level to match. Has anyone ever done this -- or does anyone have any other suggestions? I don't want to use a spray-on/roll-on product because I don't really like the look.

Well, that's the problem, I guess -- the coping is even with the existing concrete deck, so I was wondering whether pavers can be laid over top of the coping?

It can! but you need to make sure the pavers aren't too big, smaller thinner stone or tile is the best if you have a coping. The problem with this is if you have a very curvy pool it can be tricky and costly for the contractor having to make hundreds of cuts, if you dont have a curvy pool this is soo much easier to work with. Also heavier stone can cause more cracks on the coping since your putting it ontop of the concrete above the coping. But if your concrete deck is ugly due to cracks, etc then go ahead and put pavers on it or do textures.... Just remember if you put pavers down and over time it cracks you just replace the paver, with concrete it's awhole different story! Good luck.
