Hello Everyone,

If you have any questions or want further information I will be glad to help in any way possible.

Building a pool can be a big decision and if you are a first time buyer you probably will feel a little out of the loop when it comes to the construction process. That being said here are a few things to remember:

1. Small VS BIG- small companies might be alot more personal, but dont forget they will be more worried about their bottom line and are more likely to cut corners. However you dont want to be just a number, that is why I would recommend medium-2-large pool contractor.

2. Company History- do your research, go to BBB and make sure they have an 'A' rating or better and make sure they comply with the BBB'ss standards & practices. How long have they been in business? I personally would only go with a company with 8+yrs in business

3. Does the company match your Pool?-Meaning if you want to build a $100k pool make sure when you look at pics on the companies website they do those style pools. If everything is a basic $25k pool and they are a small company I would probably move on.

4. Get multiple Bids (usually 3)-This speaks for itself

5. ASK QUESTIONS!!!- Dont be afraid to ask questions. A good company will not hesitate to answer them and/or find out anything for you. Talking with several companies and getting different answers/bids can be confusing so be sure when you come to a decision to read your contract and make sure it is everything you want & you didnt leave anything out(ex: some extra that you told another company you wanted but not the one you decided to go with)

Putting all these factors together I have listed below the companies that I hear most about in the Pool building world

1. Venture Pools *Highly Recommended*

3rd biggest pool company, open for 12years, 1 centralized office, great communication & price competitive

2. Anthony Sylvan *Not Recommended*

Publicly traded company

3. Hobert Pools *Not Recommended*

several sales offices, just another number, poor communication but price competitive

4. Robertson Pools *Not Recommended*

poor construction quality, lengthy construction process, bad customer service

5. BMR Pools *Recommended*

Not as price competitive but quality product

Bryan, are you an industry professional, or a homeowner who has gone thru this?

1. Size of the company isn't terribly relevant. Sometimes larger companies are able to respond faster, but not always the case.

2. You're on the right track here. If the individual company isn't a BBB member, they may not have accurate info. BBB is just a "letter writing competition", anyway. Check with your city permit office to find some customers from last year, last month, etc. that may not be on the referral list. Talk to friends, relatives, co-workers. If you can find a city inspector, he might be able to shed some light on who he has fewest problems with.

3. Agreed.

4. Agreed.

5. Agreed - read the contract. If it's not on there, you didn't pay for it & they won't give it to you. Talk to neighbors, etc. who built pools recently to find out what issues they ran into. Every pool builder has problems, the difference is how they respond to them.

6. I'll add this one. Don't let PRICE be your main issue. You will get what you pay for. A company that is 2000.00 higher may well give you far greater value & saving 2000.00 may cost you far more in coming years.

On what criteria did you base your recommendations for these builders in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex?
