I have some out in the field,,, they are o.k , i have had some issues with them,, i had a couple charcoal probes go bad and produce a silt that sat on the seats and floor, took us a while to figure that out, i have had a control, i have had a box go bad,,, i do have some out there that have never had a lick of problems.... i have also done the new salt generators,,,, do not like ....i would stick with the ozone and chlorine my personal tub has been working with ozone and chlorine, less maintenance and less you have to check for.....just my opinion....

can anyone tell me what the true cost/savings of using these are compared to normal clorine/bromine with ozone. I had a company offer to retrofit my tub with this for 875.00, but unless they are magic or something, i cannot ever see recouping the costs

poolman18 . I been using the system since april 2004 .It has been so easy to use , its like someone else is looking after your tub.they are expensive to install though. mine came with the tub i purchased. they did have some issues with the probes initially but i believe that has been dealt with. I did change mine after 1.5 years. the replacement one is showing very little wear and i can easily see it lasting the 5 year warranty period. I change my water once a year. cost of the bromide salt is about $80.I use the hamilton standard index for balancing the water. once balanced, it doesn't change much . high usage will require you to shock it to maintain a sufficient amount of bromine.otherwise shocking is not required.

I used to work with Clearwater spas which use the bromine generator system, I had issues with electrodes loading up with alkalai deposits and shutting the system down, for the most part, they are trouble free, but as a money saver, not so much. convenience, sure.
