Good day! I am sorry for my English, but I am from Russia, Moscow. So if something will be wrong...

I am very interesting in buing fiberglass pools. We have several companies in Moscow which are produced fiberglass pools (Admiral pool, Franmer, Compass). But as usual for me I won't buy anything till I completly understand what I will get. Managers of these companies try to explain how their pools are produced. There several layers - special gelcoat, vynyl ester resin, ceramic core, polyester resin and finally topcoat. Everything is clear acept ceramic core. Nobody could explain this to me. What is this, the main goal of this layer in fiberglass pools. And there is main question - which materials are using in ceramic core.

Of course I understand that managers are not professionals so they couldnt explain this to me. So I 'm asking you (real professionals) what is this - CERAMIC CORE. Thank you a lot.

The Ceramic core you are refering to is on a Viking Pool who just filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. It is not ceramic like you think of a coffee cup. The material used to make a Viking pool's ceramic core is actually called fillite. You can see the product at www.eagerplastics.com This is a less expensive way to make the pool rather than use a higher quality resin. You should look at a Leisure pool they are far superior and not in bankruptcy.

The ceramic core of a Viking pool is a layer used in the construction process that acts like a layer of Goretex in a glove. It is there to prevent osmotic blistering and also adds structural integrity. The ceramic layer is a patented process so Viking is the only company that has the ability to market and use the product. As for the other companies- they are going to bad mouth the product until the patent expires and then they will all tell you how great it is because they use it.

Guys, we all know what you are referring to when you are posting here! Please use the "fast reply" instead of "reply" to post.

As you can see, you're copying the whole thread each time you reply that way.

Thanks
