Rhino_I_am Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Hello, I thought I would give Wisconsin residents a heads up on my experience with Allied Pools & Spas and their installation company, Mainstream Inc. I bought a 30' Above Ground Pool Package from Allied in April 2005. I paid them to do everything based on the fact I knew nothing regarding pool installation or excavation. The install went horribly wrong. I had 2-3 dozen wrinkles, creases, and folds in the bottom of the liner. Some of these were 4' long with at least 1" of material folded on itself. The installers stated it doesn't happen but it does happen sometimes and they weren't going to fix. After numerous calls and trips to Allied's store located on 108th St in Milwaukee I did get the owner of Mainstream to agree to redo the install the next spring since it was the end of our season in Wisconsin. June 2006 once again after many calls Mainstream sent a crew out removed the liner and placed a new liner in the pool. Once water hit the liner, the problem with folds returned this time worse and some folds were 6' long with material folded over itself. The installers blamed the drainage. By the way they dug 4' around the pool so I wouldn't need a fence charging extra but I later learned this created a moat completely around the pool which they claimed is my problem to fix! They walked away from this install never cutting holes in the liner for the skimmer or water return. The liner install was a mess, the pool has a 4' wide moat all the way around and they blame me! I filed a complaint with the BBB and in 2007 they agreed to fix their mess. The day they were to fix the pool the owner of Mainstream came out and told me that I needed to sign a release before he would do any work! The release included statements like I will write the BBB saying my complaint was satisfied, I acknowledge this is the last liner or repair Allied will do no matter how it turned out, and that I am satisfied with my installation. I refused to sign before they did any work and the owner of Mainstream just smiled saying he was leaving if I didn't sign. I didn't he left and Allied Mainstream never came back. The pool maintains a moat whenever it rains unless I use a sump pump to drain the area. The skimmer/ water return has never been install. Allied insists the pool is usable and they are done with this matter. I can't believe companies have such a disregard for their workmanship and customer serivce. The cost to repair their damage is more than I paid for the pool package and I sit on a stagnant pond that holds 20,000 gallons of water. This case is currently in Waukesha Circuit court. I would advise anyone thinking of using these companies to call and ask about this incident for all employees seem aware of it. Listen to their replies and contact me. If you are in the Milwaukee area I will give you a personal tour of their work. I couldn't see how to post pictures on this site but I am starting a website to outline this mess with photos. The photos with commentsare online now at www.avoidaheadache.com if interested in seeing their work. If you have had problems with these companies I would love to hear from you. Thanks for letting me vent a little. Quote
Rhino_I_am Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 Just thought I would give an update. I just had my court ordered mediation with Allied/Mainstream. It seems they still don't accept responsibility for this mess. They did offer to let me keep the pool "as is" and they will give me $750!! It will cost alot more than that to fix this mess! I guess we are off to a court trail. I would love to hear "Dave Murray" Allied's owner explain how this is my problem and they are not at fault!
