I moved to South Carolina a couple years ago and have been treating my pool with chlorine 3" pucks because I can't find liquid chlorine in any pool stores. My entire family lives in Florida and we have always bought jugs of liquid chlorine, but I can't find it anywhere in Charleston, South Carolina. I have checked just about every pool store, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and they only carry granular, pucks or sticks.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there a state regulation why I can't buy it retail? If I can't buy chlorine, is it worth using 3X the amount of 4% bleach?

Thanks in advance - Ken

Some locaiities do have laws that prohibit liquid chloirne. IF that is the case in your area use bleach. BTW, bleach is usually either 6% or 5.25% not 4%. check out walmart for their house brand of 6% ultra bleach.

Using bleach and the associated necessary chemicals will still come out less expensive than using trichlor and the necessary associated chemicals and you won't have to drain and refill when the CYA gets too high!
