Replace filters every 2 weeks? Please.... rolleyes.gif

I have used the same 2 paper filters all summer. I have only thrown 1 away because the plastic inside collapsed. I use Greased Lightening and spray the outside of the filter, soaking from top to bottom with cleaner. Allow to sit end up in a container for a few hours (or overnight) out of direct sunlight so it doesn't dry.
Then hose off the build up and allow to dry.

I dry mine on top of my AC unit outside. There is a 'sweet spot' right in the middle of the cover where the filter won't get blown off by the fan.
Works really good, filters look like new. I change it out every 3-4 days. The Greased Lightening eats the greasy grey build-up and algae residue no problem!
What can I say, I'm a 'Clark Howard' cheap skate!!! tongue.gif

How often do you clean the filters like that? Every time you swap them out?

After treating them with "Greased Lightning", do you just hose them off?
I'm wondering about residue of the cleaner getting into the pool water.

Anyways, I just bought a couple more filters and I can run a new one for
a week without the SWG complaining about low water pressure (aka dirty filter).
With the "just rinsed off with water" ones, I have to change them twice a week.

I clean them everytime. Wash out with garden hose and air dry.

I swap filter every few days. Not much residue on filter so not real worried about greased lightening in pool.
I even sprayed greased lightening on the pool surface a couple of times ohmy.gif **gasp** to remove floating sunscreen oil slick. I foamed the cleaner onto the surface and ran the skimmer overnight. Oily slick gone. I've done this twice this year and had no ill effects.
