  1. Thank you for the reply. Current status: pulled burner tray and replaced 7 of 8 burners and the ignitor. Also cleaned both top and bottom of the heat exchanger. Put together and. Unit started beautifully. But, then started getting the delayed ignition again. Tried restarting next day and turns out the ignitor was broken. I think it was a faulty unit. Main concern is trying to correct the delayed ignition. Not getting any error codes during operation. One other comment. Zodiac has discontinued mfg. The ignitor which is leaving me hanging. They have no replacement. Shouldn't I be able to splice in a similar design? Thanks for the help. Jandy LX400N-L.
  2. Have a Jandy LX400N-L 400k BTU heater that was giving off pretty large combustion during the lighting process on occasion. Unit stopped working and I suspected the ignitor had gone bad. Pulled the burner tray and found the ignitor broken and (5) of the 8 burner tubes showing damage at the fins. The center tube which has the ignitor mounted above had a whole in it the slightly larger the the length and width of the ignitor. No error codes were present during operation and the low and high speed exhaust fan worked fine. Looking for reasons why the combustion situation was occuring which suspect is the reason the heater tubes were damaged. Also, why did the center tube melt a hole in it.
  3. I have a LXi pool/spa heater. When I fire it up the blower comes on, gas valve oopens and system ignites fine. When the unit needs to go into another heat cycle a hear a large swoosh indicating there seems to be too much gas in the area during ignition. Looking for suggestions to trouble shoot.
  4. Spa Guru, Thanks for the reply. I was able to think thru the process and figure out how to pull the burner tray out & replace the ignitor. (Really poor manual supplied with unit). I posted my next hurdle yesterday which I'll touch on here. After reinstallation of the burner tray I am still not getting ignition. Blower comes on, gas valve opens but no fire. I pulled the leads to the new ignitor and I'm getting the proper resistence with my Ohm meter so i'm guessing my problem is upstream of the ignitor. One note: This all came about when I found the pool was not operating. The breaker on the main panel had tripped. My ignitor was bad; heating element was broken. Might have been a result of what ever caused the breaker to trip. I'm guessing I need to look at the Fenwal Ignition Control. Is there a way to troubleshoot this this? The heater cycles three times then errors out with an "AGS" error code. The LED on the ignition control blinks three times indicating an ignition lock out. My heater is a Jandy LX400N-L. Thanks, tom.burns60
  5. Hey out there. Problems with my Jandy LX400N-L Heater. Al ittle back ground. Came home one night and the breaker on the main panel had tripped. Reset, but heater would not fire. Did some trouble shooting & found the ignitir was bad. R&R the ignitor, fired up the unit but same thing. Ignitor providing the right amount of resistence. This tells me a signal is not telling the ignitir to fire (blowe on, gas valve opens, smell gas then nothing). Three tries then AGS error code. Fenwal ignition control gives me 3 flashes (ignition lockout). Looking for help tracing the problem. Is there a way to test the ignition control? It couldn't be the flame sensor could it? Thanks in advance for any help.
  6. I am pulling my hair out here. Ignitor has burned out but I can not figure out how to gain access. Ignitor is on the back side of the unit. THe heater tube directly below the ignitor will not slide out, I'm guessing, because the ignitor bracket is screwed to the enclosure. I cannot find what should be a sensible access to remove & replace the ingitor. Looking for some help. Sincerely, TOM Burns
