Machster69
I have recently(yesterday) acquired(freebie) a Hot Springs Sovereign. Serial shows a 2002 model. I know jack about hot tubs... I barely know what im doing with a pool. I wiped it down, filled it yesterday. I think everything is working. Jets run, I didn't try and heat it, but it was bubbling little bubbles when I turned it off so I think that might be the heater? I ran it for a little while to help clean up the tub and drained it again last night. That where I stand now... It has three filters...Can you tell me about these? Paper, ceramic? What do I need, I don't know exactly what is in there now. One filter is grey capped, others are white. Why? And the grey one has a stick inside of it looks like some kinda sanitizing thing.( looks like this but it is grey http://www.amazon.com/Nature2-Spa-Stick-Mineral-Sanitizer/dp/B002IT5JS4/ref=sr_1_2?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1442242338&sr=1-2&keywords=Nature2+Cense ) OH I have an ozone maker I saw under the tub. Should I be trying to use chlorine, bromine, or these all natural products? http://www.poolsupplyworld.com/nature-2-Cense-Secrets-Spa-Sanitizing-Kit/NATURE2-KIT-003.htm?xzm2&ecmpid=aw_pla_search_NATURE2-KIT-003&adtype=paid&gclid=COylxtPj9scCFQ4paQodFRYBkw I will be using slightly acidic well water to start her up... (I will be a couple days starting it up bc the gfci plug was bad, I bypassed it for testing purposes) Should I be converting to 220 or just see what 120 does? Hot Spring Official
Both filters will do a great job filtering your spa water. In fact both the ceramic Tri-X filter and the traditional paper type filter are interchangeable. The Tri-X filters don't typically need to be replaced for about 3 years, and the average is 1 year for the traditional filter. The filter with the gray cap is the filter connected to your circulation pump. The stand pipe for this filter is where you would insert a Nature 2 mineral stick for additional sanitation. These sticks are usually replaced after about 4 months. Watkins Mfg. recommends Sodium Dichlor (spa chlorine) to use as your primary sanitizer. 120V should be fine. Machster69
The instructions show a jumper located on 4 and 5 of "TB-1". I understand it shows a sub panel. Im disregarding that part. HOWEVER, these instructions seems to show the 30amp circuit NOT including a neutral. It appears that the jumper on the panel will be serving to SHARE the neutral from the 120v circuit that also enters the tub. Can I remove this jumper, and then wire each circuit with its own neutral? Or should I leave the jumper and only run a 10-2 for the 30 amp circuit and allow the neutral to share(completely assuming that is what the jumper is doing)? PreservedSwine
You cannot run each breaker with it's own neutral. Do not remove the jumper. The 30 amp breaker has no neutral, hooking one to the 30 AMP breaker will cause the 30 AMP GFCI Breaker to trip, and possibly damage the IQ2020. Just follow the instructions Hot Springs provides. You don't need necessarily need a 50 Amp disconnect, check with local codes to see how far the disconnect must be. If you must, run the 20 and 30 amp breakers directly from you service, as Hot Springs illustrates running the 20 and 30 Amp breakers from their disconnect.
