  1. An ozone system may possibly reduce the amount of chlorine you use.....But it will not eliminate the need for it; the water still needs to be cleansed.
  2. *Barefoot* My strategy as well for our cold Canadian winters.
  3. I own a GL spa and I'm very pleased with it, solid construction, cost of the tub itself, operating cost and actual tub size are elements which sold me on this tub. My wife and I decided on the GL-4 tub for many reasons....We wanted a smaller sized tub so it would fit on our patio.....We have a small backyard. Finding a smaller tub that didn't have a lounge seat was quite the ordeal (I float), the jets are powerful and each seat gives you a different massage. This model is perfect for two people....Three adults would be a crowd and four would be personal.
  4. I'm in at least twice a day..... Always in the buff in the summer, but the curtains are down in preparation for winter so the suit is back on unfortunately. I must say though it is very nice to stare at the stars though, can't see them with the canopy roof on. Temps....101 during the summer and now 103 for the colder weather. I'm in at least twice a day for 30min increments.....My 6am morning soak is accompanied with a tea, and my soak before bedtime is generally with an ice cold ale. I'm at the point now that if I miss a night soak I toss and turn all night. I figure by this time next year I'll just sleep in the tub.
  5. Thanks Dr. Spa....Mine is definitely as shown in the first photo, I can see the difference the other design would make.
  6. Thanks for the quick responses and suggestions...... To Dave-That little pillow thing sounds like it would make a massive difference, a tighter seal. I'll definitely keep an eye out when this cover needs replacing. I haven't tried applying pressure, I just never thought of doing that (I will tomorrow morning). I've only noticed if I shift the cover a small amount the steam will just start coming out the opposite end of the tub. And as far as the clips go.....I just don't use them at all.....Should I be? Is that the problem? Dr. Spa- A great suggestion about the vents....Mine certainly appears to be exiting from the tub though, could my eyes be playing tricks? I do leave them open.
  7. Now that the weather has turned cold here especially in the early morning I've noticed steam escaping from underneath the cover. It's coming from the point of the fold in the cover (Where you flip the cover over), a small amount mind you....But heat loss means $$$$ correct? My thoughts are that it is normal occurrence....Your not going to get a 100% tight seal on a hot tub cover but I wanted to check here just in case. And advice/suggestions/info is much appreciated.
  8. Love the setting, those walls are incredible.....A very relaxing spot for a hot tub.
  9. Thanks for the compliments.
  10. I'm not sure how it would work on a trial basis.....I know it says in the instructions that it can take a good full cycle (month) to get going in your tub if you are switching from regular chemical use. Both of us that responded were users from day one, so our experience is lacking. I do know that the system has some sort of switch kit that is suppose to ready the tub for the product....Purge it sort of I guess. When I said I was thinking about using it on a trial basis I was thinking of changing over on my next water change and use it for the whole time. I agree It would not be a good idea to change systems in teh middle of a cycle. Or are you saying that there is some residual effect from eco one from water change to water change? Mike I was told that there may be a residual effect. Not sure though as I started from day one.

  12. I am an Eco-One user as well.....And couldn't be happier. With Eco-One you will still need to use a sanitizer such as chlorine or bromine. I also have both Ph up and Down to balance the water when needed. I have a smaller tub (300 gallons) with an ozinator that has two people in it at least three times a day for 30 min intervals. I change my water once somewhere in between two and three months. On a fresh fill I add 60ml of stain and scale and I also need the PH down to reduce the very high PH of the city water where I live. Once in check I add 1/2 a bottle (small tub) of the Eco-one monthly and check my levels weekly. The Ph tends to drop a small amount over time so I need the Ph up on hand to balance, only a minute amount when needed. Some weeks I add nothing. I add about a 1/2 TSP of chlorine after each use......And that's it. I find with Eco-one my water stays pretty close to balanced at all times.....The water is crystal clear, no chemical smell (before the chlorine obviously) and is very easy to maintain. I highly recommend this product.
  13. Don't use bleach, try a little "Resolve" first, take the cover off,, spray the stain, let the Resolve do it's thing, rinse thoroughly. Thanks for the reply....I googled Resolve (Not 100% sure if that brand is sold in Canada)....I came up with a spot and stain remover.....So I assume if I can't find Resolve another brand will do?
  14. I was considering using bleach to try and clean it today...Would this damage the material? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
