  1. Sorry, I'm typing from my phone. I mean the vendor is telling me to go through hayward not the "blend". Whatever that means! LOL
  2. I have a new hayward super pump 1.0 hp. Took some time hooking it up because I needed some pool fittings and updated our ec65 filter. Our old pump is about 19 years old and it was tough to read the wiring schematic to see whether it was 230 or 115. My husband was convinced it was 230 so last weekend, I got everything put together and hooked it up. Fyi, my husband wired the plug using 10 awg wire which is what we had before. Anyway, I kicked the pump on and it ran nicely for about 15 minutes. It then shut itself off. I checked the pump and was very hot to the touch. Waited a little while and kicked it on again and in about 30 seconds or so, it turned off. Did some research and everyone said check voltage. It is putting about 117 through the line. I also really cleaned up the old pump and could just see how to wire the old one for 115. Sure enough, that's how it was connected. So I made that change on the new pump, turned it on again and it does the same thing! Hayward believes the thermal switch is bad. So they referred me to their local warranty center and since I didn't buy the pump from them, they want to charge me $135 for a service call plus the cost of the part to repair it and I'm supposed to go thru hayward to get reimbursed. The blend or that I bought the pump tells me to go thru hayward. So what do I do? Is there a reset button for the thermal switch? Some simple fix that I can do to save myself this headache. Your help is appreciated.
