  1. We purchased a Bullfrog and ONE of the reasons was the jetpaks but therapy was our number one reason. Wet test both, take your time.
  2. I happen to agree with you but it is my opinion. There are others who will disagree. I guess it is a matter of preference. I never had a spa with one and never had an issue with the water.
  3. Looks like hot tubs put in a hole/vault can suck for the spa user too!
  4. You're a new member and your first post is insulting and bashing Bullfrog. You say the OP "already expressed they weren't keen on Bullfrog" then why your post. Talk about being pointless.
  5. Nothing to be sorry for, you and I just have differing opinions is all. I am very happy with our decision to buy Bullfrog and do recommend them. Sounds like we both agree on for spa shoppers to do their research, shop all major brands, and wet test.
  6. I agree, that when spa shopping people should look and wet test all high end spas that they are able to in their area. We did. We have owned Marquis in the past and now Bullfrog, both which I consider high end tubs. I was just responding to the OP question of "I would like the opinions of those with some knowledge and experience as to whether or not Bullfrog is on the same playing field as the others in terms of build quality and reliability."
  7. fyi - spa guru and spa savant are just titles the forum gives posters depending how many posts they make here. So it is both Roger and Brettnolan who responded to your post - member names are right above are are highlighted.
  8. Well I'm a little biased as I just purchased a new Bullfrog R6L and so far very happy with it. I can change jetpaks within seconds it is very easy. We plan to get more in the future which is a very nice feature as our therapy needs may change. Owners that I have spoke with had nothing but good things to say. As said, I'm a new owner. We just got ours up and running this week - so far water is crystal and our bodies are enjoying the different types of massage that each jetpak provides. So far my favorite seat is the lounger and I Iike all the jetpaks we have (comes with three, we picked oscillator, neck baster, and rain shower). What is really nice is having all the jets run at the same time, no longer have to live with having to shut some jets off to run others like in our previous spa.
  9. It's good that you will be wet testing - make sure to wet test both a signature and an e-series, hopefully they have one of each up and running. That way you can see how the jets feel for both and the controls. That might help you decide if the Reward is worth the extra money. As for floor models, I just bought a floor model and its just fine. People may have gone in to do a dry test and my experience when spa shopping, spa dealers do monitor. The only time that I have seen them getting played with a lot (for instance kids playing in and out of them) was in big recreation stores where they sell other things. Hot tub prices are negotiable and you can probably talk him/her down as it is last years model and it's a floor model. Something to keep in mind, I found the following on a website - this was one of the reasons named on why to become a spa dealer: "High margins. Hot tubs generally have great margins for a high-ticket item. Remember, hot tubs are a luxury item. When people are seeking a high-quality hot tub, they are expecting to pay some good money for it. If you have a customer willing to buy and you stock a high-quality hot tub brand, then as long as you have a confident, well-informed and well-trained sales people, you are going to make a good profit."
  10. Thank you! We haven't taken delivery yet - waiting to get over the holidays. Will definitely post an update with some pics. For jetpaks, we're getting the Oscillator, NeckBlaster, and then the RainShower. It was hard to choose! I'm sure we'll get more down the road.
  11. We just purchased a new Bullfrog R6L and traded our Marquis Epic. Our dealer is the one that Roger spoke of. They have since dropped Sundance and primarily sell Bullfrogs. The other brand they sell is LA Spas. We looked and wet tested several different brands (Hot Springs, Sundance, Arctic, re-looked at Marquis, D1, Jacuzzi). We really love the Bullfrog and the like having the choice of using different jets/therapy options and was something the others could not match. Call it gimmicky, etc, IMO I call it ahhhhhhhh! Another nice feature that I appreciate is not having to mess with all the different diverters to power on/off different sets of jets like I had to in our Epic. Besides researching spas on the internet and forums it helped us tremendously to wet test as much as we could. Recommend anyone spa shopping to do the same. We did not look at spas that we couldn't wet test (such as those found only online or Costco, etc). Good luck on your search to Spatopia!
  12. No problem just replace them will less comfortable smaller jets that offer less therapy and your set. Oh and by way next time you visit a massage pay double or triple the price and a 4 to 6 hands to work you instead of the way it is normally done deep therapy one muscle group at a time. Your opinion - not mine. Glad you like them as is. BTW my best friend is a massage therapist - I get mine for free!
  13. I think they should let it sway there decision...because circ pumps do create less wear on the main pump which is now being used for filtering, heating and jets. This is also a less efficient way to run a hot tub because of it...Marquis wasnt bought out that long ago and when they were they took the circ pump out. 3 main hot tubs are hot springs sundance and d1, all use circ pumps...but marquis does not. They also dont use pillows, or a wier system. Marquis sales people are always telling funny stories of what people do or don't like but really Marquis tries to reinvent the wheel to make themselves different and if the story is told by a strong enough sales person it will sell. You really should only make rebuttals on items you know about and it is apparent spas are not that. You state circ pump creates less wear on the main pump, I can say circ pump adds another part to the spa and all the manufacturers know the Laing 909 are one of the higher warranty items. Less Efficient you say, at .10 cents a kilowatt hour a circ pump will cost approximately $4.50 a month the run, our filtering pump will cost about $4.50 a month the big difference being is in that month we filtered 720,000 gallons that month and the circ system filters 302,400 gallons. We filter more water for roughly the same money so who is more efficient? Yes we were bought by the employees on 1999. We offer pillows as an option, as no one warrants pillows past delivery we chose to be up front with customers so they have no misunderstanding that they are part of the spa warranty. You say we do not use a weir system, do you even know what a weir is for, it is designed to help break the surface tension of the water to aid in filtering. If you look at our system we skim right at 60" of surface area most everyone else does 12". Ummm... I thought you said that you are here "not to bad mouth anyone"? As I posted earlier, our #1 pump is going out on our Epic. This is the 2nd Marquis spa that we have issues with the pump going out. The pump will be replaced because it's under warranty. What's going to happen when it's not? I would assume that a small circ pump is cheaper to replace vs a main/primary one. That's something I will have to research if we decide to keep the Epic for that long. Thank you for the info on the the spinning jets. We will call our dealer to see to how to get those replaced as they have to come out anyway to replace the pump. Now if you can only get the seats to run the jets on the back, legs and feet at the same I would be really happy!
