  1. Hi Folks, Long time no see... life's busy. I've been using Nitro's method for the better part of a year now. Works fantastic! Question tho'... CH in the town I'm living in is somewhat high. About 375 out of the tap, which has me keeping my TA at about 40. It works... I was under the impression the only way to "soften" it would be to install an appropriate system... BUT, I've come across a product in Canada, Calgon Water Softener (also one boxed for Co-Op) which contains sodium sesquicarbonate and sodium tripolyphosphate for "softening laundry water. Could this be added to my tub to bring the CH down a little? Thanx for any input, Roger
  2. different people have different aptitudes...so let common sense prevail. just bear in mind, 120VAC may give a hell of a "tingle", but 220/240 VAC will most likely kill you! (or possibly a loved one...) if your not sure, find someone who is. regards, roger
  3. Well, 3 weeks and nothing yet. Ordered by phone so I didn't recieve any email or confirmation of shipment. (eg. no tracking #) Called Monday this week and spoke with the same girl who took the order. (which was good) However, apparently shipping reciepts had now been forwarded to The Controller meaning she had no access to tracking #'s, shipping confirmation, etc. (which was bad) She was to look into it and get back to me. Two business days later and I've heard nothing. (which is bad) Guess I'll try an e-mail through their website and see what happens.... all's well that ends well they say. was unable to send an email as that option wasn't available thru their website so i sent a fax instead. Mary called the following day to let me know they didn't know what had happened to my order, but they were going to credit the cost back to my charge card with her apologies.(i told her if it did end up arriving i'd let her know so they could "re-charge" me.) i then started seeking Canadian suppliers......over $100 easy for a K2006, over $200 for the K2006-C. Holy cow!! along with the explanation that because Taylor has a Canadian distributor and Taylor kits don't have adequate WHIMS documentation, supply stores from the States can't ship to Canada.... seems that was a load of crap. my kit showed up last Friday. Happy day for me! all that's left is to call Mary back and let her know....and apologise for the fuss...cuz i'm Canadian....i hear we do that a lot. lol. Regards to all,
  4. I also don't have much for wind breaks. ( the fence is only half built.) So what I've done to get by till spring breakup is moved the camper over by the hot tub, and put up a couple of tarps, one from the camper to the rail on my steps, one from the camper to a nearby tree. Between that, and when the tub cover is flipped up, the wind is pretty much blocked from all four directions. Works fantastic, albeit looks a little like "tent city". lol. Also makes it VERY private....
  5. Ok, so here's the story. I'm in our "local" tub store the other day and I overhear the sales rep talking to potential customers. Apparently, with their ozone system, after initial balancing and set-up, shocking the tub once a week with Lith Chlor ( which he very carefully referred to as "Lithium") and the appropriate amount of "Spa Perfect" (whatever that is. there's nothing listed on the label.) your water will be good for a full year before needing to be changed! Amazing. I confirmed his story as I bought my filters. And my water will be perfect for a garden when it's done! To potential buyers...Beware! Everything I've learned here at the forum, and experienced with my own tub, tells me this is a load of crap. (except the part about putting the used water on the garden, providing the water's not too contaminated!) But, he "sounded like he knew what he was talking about". Good Lord. Wonder if the manufacturer stands behind that..... I should probably check.

  7. I would also recommend decontaminating the tub. There's no telling what may be in there at this point. "Nitro's Method" works well. (sorry can't do links yet, but it's easy to find on the forum.)
  8. Depending on how cold it was you may find leaks with pipes, pumps, etc. from no circulation even with the bulk of the water being warm. But I'm assuming that would become quickly apparent.
  9. Ok, so the electric is hooked up incorrectly... Going into the breaker, I only have a black and a white (both hot) and a ground. I don't have another wire to run into the white pigtail. I just ran the black and white out from the black and the red out from the white, because there is no common. What are my options? Can I split the ground into ground+common? Based on this description, your wiring is incorrect going into the GFCI. Have you traced it at all to verify direct wiring back to your main panel? Sounds like sort of a jury rig. Proper wiring (eg. adequate breaker at the main panel, grounding, etc.) is critical for the proper function of the GFCI. If your not certain, have an electrician have a look. Your life (or your families) may depend on it. regards, Roger
  10. Ouch...dump, fill, flush, dump, fill, decon with bleach, dump, & fill again. I'll have to make a skating rink in the yard...lol. Wonder what temp highly chlorinated water freezes at... This is going to take awhile. Does my tub need to be up at running temp. for both the flush and Nitro's bleach bath? Or will it work as well at say, 70 F. or so?
  11. If you have a hand held shower that doesn't provide enough pressure, you can usually remove the shower head. Leaves a smaller diameter hose with a pretty stiff stream.
  12. Hi folks, i guess i'm about ready to go with this but i have a quick question. picked up Whirlpool Flush made by Masters. As per the label it contains: dodecylbenzene-sulfonic acid, primary alcohol ethoxylate, sodium tripolyphosphate, trisodium-phosphate, 2-butoxyethanol, and EDTA tetrasodium salt. (do not ingest!). my question is can i just put it in with the existing peroxysan, or neutralize the peroxide first? Any input would be greatly appreciated! One other thing, as of a couple of days ago my tub has begun to develop little "bumps" on the shell. Kind of like little barnacles or something. Any ideas if this is just some type of "scale", or something worse....
  13. Hi folks, sooo, apparently they do ship to Canada! I had to call customer service directly as their web-site isn't quite rigged for that, yet. The CSR was a little surprised but sounds like they may correct that in the future. I'm not sure of total costs yet but even with exchange rates and shipping i think i got a good deal! Let you know when it arrives!
  14. Hi cramp, i had read through your previous threads before i joined actually. Up until now my only issues seemed to be the associated pH, TA, and so on. mine are currently entirely out to lunch. last nite pH was @ about 8.4, TA was about 180 (or higher, thats where the strips top out.) As well, there's the sanatizing concerns. And the stuff is really expensive! As of last night (Iwas going to start another thread) we"ve noticed little "bumps" on the shell of the tub. kind of like tiny little barnacles, 10 or so per square inch at the moment. I'm also a newbie and haven't seen this before. I'm wondering if it's some sort of "scale", or something worse..... Thankful decon procedures start soon....
  15. OK. Thanks for the reply. Wet test will decide, though I'm not sure the Sundance dealer has a Hamilton filled.....if the Envoy blows me away then I am not sure how many level's of "like" there are above that. I'm not sure how long that floor model at that price will stick around. Thanks. if it's a "floor model", filled & wet test by others maybe ask the dealer to decontaminate it b4 delivery. or do it yourself b4 use.
