  1. Thanks "Wizard of Water", So if I understand you correctly .. the error in my thinking stems for the fact that the oxidation of the waste (which the 3.5 tsp / person-hr rule addresses) is a much longer process (say 8 hours) than I thought. So in principle during the "afternoon hot tub party" I would start off with a bit higher than normal .. say 7 ppm FC and then every hour or so (or when a break in the bathing occurs) I check the levels and make sure that FC has some residual. If not, then add a few more teaspoons to boost it up a bit ... circulate for 10 minutes and then let people back in? I also assume that adding MPS before and during the afternoon also helps the oxidation issue, right? Would you recommend that I add MPS into this routine? (by the way, I have an ozonator and silver ion stick as well). Thanks Mike
  2. Thanks for your reply ... your suggestion sounds like my party will last for an hour .. then I shock the tub to 10 PPM (I assume you meant with Dichlor) and I don't see how my "party" resumes from that point. I would think that the 10 ppm Dichlor level is too high for other guests to go in soon after that, no?
  3. I've read alot of the blogs and I hear how much Free Chlorine that bathers use up. People have hot tub parties with many people and one can see how quickly you can drop to 0 ppm. My tub is 415 gallons, so I calculate that for 56% Dichlor, that 6.1 ppm is around 3.5 tsp. So the normal rule of thumb is 3.5 tsp Dichlor / person - hour. Lets say I have 4 people in there ... this would deplete this in 15 minutes. Do I kick everyone out every 15 minutes and add more Dichlor? And that leads me to the another key question .. how long to wait after adding Dichlor to let people back in? I can understand that if you were doing a super-chlorination of 10 ppm or higher you wouldn't want to go back in right away. But if I am always adding 6 ppm in at a time (and letting it circulate through the pumps for 10 minutes or so) is that OK to let people back in after 10 minutes? I can't imagine that people are kicking their guests out of the hot tub every 15 minutes. Where am I going wrong in my thinking? Thanks Zeta
