  1. Nine years so far on a Costco/Strong Evolution hot tub. One pump (probably needed because of my over-chemical habits), and two covers needed during that time. I would definitely do it again.
  2. I'm no expert by any means but those appear to be check valves... one-way valves to prevent a reverse flow.
  3. I've had a Strong Spa (from Costco) since 2008 and am very happy with it. Had a couple of pumps go out but they were fixed promptly by Strong's agent (under warranty) with one phone call. I'd go for it. One pump leaked and one kind of disintegrated the impeller. Both, I might add, were brand names in the general market place... not Strong branded.
  4. The last time I had black (dark gray) particles, it was a pump impeller self-destructing.
  5. I have a high-end, two-pump-plus-air-pump Evolution from Costco and have been more than happy. I had a pump replaced under warranty and the service was flawless. I had to call the manufacturer instead of Costco but I couldn't tell the mileage difference over the phone. :-) Ii would do it again. BTW, i accidentally found some spa delivery guys at my local pool supply store and they uncrated and set the spa in place for $50. The initial delivery driver and his helper moved the spa from the end of my 50 foot driveway onto the patio for a $50 tip. The licensed electrician I found pulled a new 100 foot circuit (6 gauge copper stranded), including main panel breaker and new GFCI breaker box, for $700.
  6. Based on my limited experience, I believe they are for hooking dividing ropes... from deep end to shallow end.
  7. I used this company last time. Very good cover. Be sure to measure accurately and maybe twice. http://www.rhtubs.com/covers/cover-index.htm
  8. I've been using it (non-germicidal) for a couple of weeks now. No noticiable effects. I just use about 25% less than the old... about three ounces every other day instead of four ounces.
  9. I agree with the Craig's List ad for the old one. For the new one from Costco, ask the delivery guy if he can put the spa where you want it. I did... he did... and I tipped him an extra $50. He moved it about 75 feet.
  10. My Magnum 90 is at 1.5 years and doing just dandy!
  11. Yes you opened a can of worms. The folks who purchase at COSTCO/LOWES/HOM DEPOT are very defensive about their purchase. They somehow think they saved thousands over a local dealer and if you tell them that's simply not true they get all defensive. They saved a thousand or 2 dollars but got thousands lessor tub. There you go again. :-( I'm a very happy, Costco/Stong Spas purchaser.
  12. I've had the Evolution Magnum 90 from Costco for a year and a half now. I had one problem with a pump that was fixed with one phone call to Strong Spas. I would do it again!
  13. I have a Strong Magnum 90... love it and would definitely do it again!
