vadoctor Posted May 13, 2015 Report Share Posted May 13, 2015 I am replacing a sundance spa 2 speed pump and was wondering if i should use teflon paste on the wet end of the pump ( male threads ) when i am tightening the pvc nut. i can't find it mentioned anywhere but it seems that it would lessen the chance of a leak. or is this a bad idea? SpaSage Posted May 16, 2015 Report Share Posted May 16, 2015 You shouldn't need to use teflon on the 2" connections on the wet end of the pump. PreservedSwine Posted June 24, 2015 Report Share Posted June 24, 2015 O-rings can be lubed, but gaskets should be clean and dry- it depends on what yours has. Also, no need to use teflon or lube on the pump union threads- it's a compression fitting, the threads are meant to tighten the O-ring- the threads are NOT waterproof, nor are they meant to be- that's the job of the O-ring or gasket.
