  1. I think that is a fair price for the Bullfrog 462. If I recall, during our purchase of the Bullfrog 362.... the 462 was about $1,500 more, (difference of 462 having the Lightwave, extra Jet Pack and a Non-Lounger vs the 362). We paid extra for the lifter, removal and return of our old Spa to Costco. Personally, I recommend the Bullfrog over many others in its price range. The question for you is what other Spas are available at that price with similar features?
  2. Crusher, Good luck with your new Bullfrog, and YES, we especially will be waiting to hear of your complete experience with this hot tub. Geri and I live in Montana, and are looking for our first hot tub! From our investigations we have been told to avoid ABS as a construction material in hot tubs and are lookng into the exact reasons why. Were you aware the Bullfrog tubs have this materal in their construction and know anything about this particular issue? Don & Geri Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, I was aware of the ABS material for the frame, but unaware of any specific issues. Bullfrog does offer a Lifetime Warranty on the frame, so I considered that a +. The Bullfrog Spa has performed great, no issues, quiet operation, well insulated, energy efficient, and excellent construction. I like having the flexibility of swapping the Jet Paks around the seating positions. I have zero complaints with ownership experience, to include the local dealership.
  3. I am not a tech, but it appears Patio Pools & Spas are responsive to your issue(s). Curious...why did you choose Maxx Spas? I asked because they were in my final three....Maxx, Bullfrog and Artiesan. We choose Bullfrog from Simply Spas.
  4. I am no expert, just another consumer like yourself, who had similar critical desires for our next spa. We owned used CalSpa for 10 years, until the wood frame rotted, otherwise mostly problem free. Three years ago, purchased a Costco Infinity Spa, which was a problem child and was returned to Costco last week. We evaluated each local dealer history of customer service, selling their particular line of Spas, BBB reports, etc. Like you we considered the Costco's OC CalSpa Majestic 860 and the Evolution 80 by Strong......we just was not comfortable with buying another Costco "spec" Spa(Costco return policy is great, but do not want return a Spa every 3 years due to poor quality). We considered Jacuzzi, Dimension 1, Hot Springs, Sundance, Maax Spa, Artesian, LA Spa, CalSpa,......either was not affordable, not impressed with quality or not comfortable with the local dealer. We purchased a floor model Bullfrog 362 from a local dealer and have been really impressed with the quality and efficient design of the Spa. Our local Bullfrog dealer has been fantastic. The one thing you may consider....Bullfrog has an agreement to have roadshows at local Costco Warehouses, which allows you to order thru Costco, with delivery and service provided by a local Bullfrog dealer. Otherwise, based on your list the new 2008, Marquis Reward seem tempting at $6,400, if you can live without "no options". I hope this helps.....Good Hunting.
  5. Great post! Which Spas where your final 3 and why?
  6. Thanks to everyone who share their valuable experiences and expertise on this forum. Our Bullfrog will be deliver Monday and we are really excited. The deciding factor was our comfort level with the local dealership (i.e. BBB report, owners experiences, customer service, etc.), price, warranty, overall design and construction quality of the spas. Will share delivery experience and usage later this month.
  7. Thanks for the recommendation, however, no local Marquis dealers.
  8. Thanks for all the info. Have you or anyone had experiences with Baja Spas?
  9. Well, here is a list of local dealers that might be able to meet the budget of $6K with their floor models with similar features/sizes: Baja Spas Cal Spas The following dealers floor models would cost another grand i.e. $7K for the floor models features/sizes: LA Spas Maxx/Coleman Spas D1 Jacuzzi So knowing this, how do each group compare with their components?
  10. Apparently, Cal Spas recently have a bad reputation concerning their GE pumps/motors and poor warranty service with their dealers.
  11. The first Spa I purchased in 1996 was a used Cal Spa (model unknown) for $750(divorce sale) and it worked fairly well, I recall maybe a couple of service calls. It was sold in 2006 due to the wood frame rotting. My wife purchased a Costco "bang for your buck" Infinity spa, while I was deployed overseas. We have had several service calls with the Infinity Spa, with the last straw being cracks on the shell. It will be return to Costco and now I am researching our next Spa purchase....what a pain in the butt!!! Now don't get me wrong, I love to research and make a smart value purchase for any of our big ticket purchases, but nothing is as difficult as this (HD TV was tricky, but a lot more fun). Things I have learned: 1) Almost impossible to find a Spa for less than $5k with good quality, performance, and dealer/manufacturer warranty service (prefer not to go the Costco route). 2) If we spend $6k (max limit), we may be able purchase from local a dealer floor/clearance models, however, normally its the lower product line lacking features we prefer to have. 3) One thing that stands out....industry components and insulation techniques varies as related to quality, performance, and warranty. So this is the question....which spas have the most realiable components and insulation based on quality, performance and best warranty service at our budget? Thanks in advance for responses!
