  1. We are struggling with a leak also and are currently suspecting it is within the water feature plumbing. Our levels don't drop when we switch off the valve that feeds water to the feature. If your pump is above the pool water level then of course priming may sometimes be an issue. You seem to be describing the strainer cover. We keep non oil based lube on the strainer cover gasket. That gasket can be replaced if it no longer seats on the strainer cover. I notice that the clear strainer cover will sometime look like there is no water flow but you would notice a higher whine from your pump because no flow through the strainer would mean the pump had not primed.
  2. Last Summer after an evening of emptying skimmer baskets and a few Heineken, I checked the Jandy valve that controls the water feature (scuppers that pour water into our pool from an elevated surface). I guess that I turned the valve up to Eleven because water began sheeting onto the lower concrete deck below the elevated feature. I quickly backed it down to defcon 3 and didn't think much more about it until later in the season when I noticed having to fill the pool up more often. So I can't see wet areas around the deck or pump but it must be going somewhere. Does anyone have any experiences getting leaks diagnosed and or repaired? What to look out for? What might be a good suggestion other than a "FOR SALE" sign in our front yard.
