  1. Of course the rep is going to say his x is superior to their y. I would say the Pulse and Niagara are comparable quality. Different features. Different seating. I would go by comfort and trust of the dealer. Once you get it home, marginal difference in price will be forgotten. Pulse price is pretty darn cheap.
  2. A year later now. Spa Tech suggested you hire a pro. Had you done so, you probably would have spent less money and the problem would have been resolved.
  3. You could probably use a brush if you were very careful but I still think extended soaking would do the trick if its calcium though I wonder how you got to this point? Hopefully your dealer can give you some insight. We sell Mineral Springs Cell Cleaner.
  4. There really is no "upgrade" to convert the Prodigy to 220volts. The only thing that you need is the 220 volt subpanel which is a little expensive if the dealer charges retail. If you have a good electrician, get the wiring diagram ahead of time, and get your own breakers. With that said, the wiring and breakers is very specific, so don't stray from the diagram thinking it would work another way. The only other thing required is changing the jumpers on the control pad when it gets powered up. There are basic instructions for doing this in the electrical info. I am so damn confused now... my dealer told me I needed to upgrade the unit. Am I being taken for a ride here at my local HS dealer? The Prodigy is one of the hot tubs that me and the mrs really like (have yet to wet test). But we hate the idea of needing to "upgrade" anything electrical. Ugh this hot tub buying thing is so stressful.. I need a drink damn it. The only thing that needs to be done to the tub is to change some jumper settings through the menu on the control pad. It takes about 30 seconds. As I said though the sub panel is pretty expensive and he may just be calling that the 'upgrade'. If you want the tub negotiate the price for the 110 version and get the 220 breakers on your own if you have a good electrician. Agreed.
  5. 1) LED lights should be fairly easy to replace as they should be front-serviceable. If in doubt just buy 1 from the local dealer and try it out but ask them if there is a tool to remove the from face before you get too far. Maybe they can show you in the showroom. 2) Not sure. Why not ask at teh dealer while you're there getting the lights. The lights are front serviceable. However, if it is a wiring issue it is a bitch. Don't even try. Ask the dealer if they have a copy of the ICast owner's manual. You can try shutting down and restarting. Check the channels on the back of the ICast transmitter. Try different settings.
  6. The sound system would be an IPod docking station.
  7. Based on who's estimates? What happens if you break out Jacuzzi/Sundance and Hot Spring/Caldera?
  8. Do you have to measure or do they know the size? Do you have a Hot Spring Lifter? What is the density of the foam? If you have a warranty issue, how is it satisfied?
  9. Well, this thread got way off topic. Questions for the nay sayers: Is biofilm in pipes an issue in our industry? Is water mold build up in pipes an issue? Products such as Silk Balance and Aqua Finesse are preventing the buid up of biofilm. They also give the water a silky feel. They are not sanitizers. Perhaps AF misleads on their web site. We sell Silk Balance. Most of our customers use ozone with it. We also tell them to shock weekly with Enhanced Shock, which contains chlorine. They also use either AG+ w/MPS or chlorine with each use. It sounds like most of the arguements here are about marketing and customer education, rather than about water care.
  10. Short answer: In most cases, no, you cannot have independent do warranty work. Most spa warranties will stipulate that any work done by non authorized person may void the warranty. You are buying a relationship, at least through the warranty period.
  11. Different manufacturers. Different technologies. ACE is controlled from hot tub control panel. Technichlor is independent.
  12. We should be installing our 1st in a week or two. We have installed @ 20 regular Technichlor 220 units. Seem to be working fine.
  13. After adding salt and starting the SWG the other night I took a soak for about 45 mins. Normally I would have added about 1.5 oz of dichlor after that soak to keep CL level up. This time I did nothing. Checked chemistry the next evening and Cl =5, TA=80, PH=7.0, CA=100. Not sure why the drop in PH. Added a little Baking soda about an oz. Today the readings are the same except PH=7.8. Salt concentration is betwwen 2500 to 3000. I have lowered the power level of the SWG and plan on a soak tonight. Normally if I had not added CL for two days after a soak I would have a Cl of less than 1. So it does appear to be keeping the level up but a little high. Tap it down a little.
