  1. I certainly think a waterfall is a worthless feature on a spa. The other downside to running it is that it reduces the water pressure to the jets connected to the same pump. I think the led exterior lights are something I could easily do without as well.
  2. Yes we can all certainly appreciate a good hot soak, that is one thing people in here never disagree on. Seriously now, out of curiousity which spa manufacturers currently use these components you mentioned? Does any single spa manufacturer include all these state of the art features?
  3. Chet you make no sense with your post. Sissys huh?? Strange comment by you in this situation. I didn't know anyone still used that term sissys. Must be from a bygone era. You did say you bought a 9100 ultra did you not? Did you research your spa much before you bought it or did ya just get lucky? If so I can't imagine how you could feel good about mis-information being passed on about it in this forum. If you know something is untrue about what someone says in here you have a right to let other readers know when BS is spewed so that unsuspecting others are not mis-informed. If you would have read this guy's post and believed him, you wouldn't have bought your spa. For you to not stand up for what you bought is hard to understand unless you are unhappy with it.
  4. The Balboa M-7 Heater uses stainless steel housing with a incoloy element, that is probably as good as it gets my friend. I am aware of what Geloy is are you? It is used as material in spa shells not jets like you indicated. I understand that you don't like Clearwater spas, that is fine. If you are going to talk smack about something at least get your facts straight. What brand spa do you sell anyway?
  5. FYI I own a Clearwater spa and do not sell them. I don't have to defend the brand. I am just not one to stand back and let some one bash a product with mis-leading information . You must be confusing Clearwater with a less expensive brand because you or a gorilla cannot bend or flex the edge of my Ultra 9100, it may have the thickest fiberglass backed shell in the industry. I have heard of Geloy shells used on Great Lakes spas, never heard of a Geloy Jet. There again maybe you are confused. If they make them (don't think they do) what makes them better? Incoloy 825 Heater made by Gecko...no Clearwater uses a Balboa Stainless steel heater which is a tried and proven to be a quality component. I assume you sell another brand that is fitted with GE, Dupont and Gecko components rather than AO Smith, and Balboa. You sound more like a salesman with your sales buzz words than a repairman. I appreciate your attempt to backup your comments, but come back with some real facts and information rather than spout out some other spa specifications or brand name buzzwords and insinuate that they are better. Regardless of your opinion Clearwater does build a quality spa with quality brand name components.
  6. I am gonna have to call complete BS on your post regarding Clearwater spas. I have "popped" the hood and on the contrary they are quite well built and have one of the thickest shells manufactured and quality components throughout. You clearly don't know what you are talking about. Describe what you feel are dificiencies with the spa instead of making generalized negative statements that are totally unfounded? What do you service........ septic tanks? Just wondering because you are full of it.
  7. You got a great spa and an unbelievable deal. I paid more for mine last year, but I have the acrylic shell. Had it for 11 months and so far it has been fantastic. Time will tell if it will hold out on the long run but so far I am extremely pleased.
  8. Paint, this was at the bottom of the post, you missed it. I had to look that one up! According to The Urban Dictionary (www.urbandictionary.com), to slag (someone) off means "To verbally attack [someone], using disparaging terms". - Tom Good Job on the translation Tom
  9. You love to tinker and could care less about service, that is quite an odd point of view. Do you have much experience working on spas yourself? Working on a spa is fun like a hobby? Another weird comment to make on the forum. I can see one saving grace to your purchase, living in Florida is going to be a blessing for you. The inferior insulation on your spa should not be much of a factor on your electricity bill in the warm climate. It sure makes you wonder when a newbie posts for no other apparent reason other than to tout a certain spa. It also seems pretty odd that about 95% of the time the spa they are touting is the Costco Platinum Elite Series by Hydrospa, a cheap lower end spa at best. Good Luck and happy tinkering.
  10. I agree with your post Wes, however it is painfully obvious that paint, djsdad, silverfish and several other personalities are the same person with multiple accounts here. There is obviously a not-so hidden agenda with these simpletons. It is too much cooincidence that all these people seem to use the word "there" always in the wrong context. Could you imagine someone trying to return a spa to Costco after ten years, lol. What would the person say..."sir I'd like to return my ten year old spa because I'm not just not satisfied". It worked ok for me for 9 years and 11 months, but now it just isn't cutting the mustard. After ten years I have determined that I am not satisfied with it. Now may I have a full refund. That is pure insanity.
  11. If it is truely a 2006 Dimension Diplomat floor model with a full warranty that is a good deal? Just make sure you really want a spa with his and hers loungers before you buy. If you want these features that is a great spa, the downside is that there isn't much footwell space because of the the loungers. It should be pretty energy efficient having just a 325 gallon capacity because of the loungers as well.
  12. Man that sounds like alot of trouble plus you need a vehicle with a hitch as well. My dealer delivered mine for me on a specially designed trailer. Two guys did it with ease and I didn't have to worry about damaging the spa during the transit. If I were considering buying a Costco spa (and I'm not) I would hire a local dealer that has one of these special transport trailers and people experienced with moving spas. Bear in mind that some of these cheaper spas are not very sturdy and could be easily damaged during movement. I don't know if that is the case with these from Costco, but either way I would let the pros handle it and have peace of mind.
  13. I have had a Clearwater 9100 Ultra for 10 months now. The hydrotherapy of this spa is very good in my opinion. There may be something better out there but I am not aware anything that gives better hydrotherapy. With three 5 hp pumps and 92 jets it really moves the water and gives a great deep massage. The jets are really very basic in design and run anywhere from 15-20$ from replacement jets. When I first got mine I had 3 replaced because they came out is the jet inner mount when I ran my pumps on high and turned them to adjust the flow. My dealer replaced these with no questions asked and I have not had any jet issues since then. I realize that the spa needs to be reliable for about another 9 years or so before I will really know how good it is. Most of the experts in here say if a spa can be troublefree for 10 years or more it is a pretty good spa. I agree with this rational. My understanding is that Clearwater spas has been building spas for 25 years, I figure that stands for something. So far I am happy with my 9100 and love the therapy it provides me. It seems to be built very solid and durable although it is a little noisier than full foam insulated tubs, but not noisy enough to be a problem at all. The insulation is a thermal pane type. My electrical costs have been a reasonable $15 per month during the summer and $35-40 per month during the winter keeping my water at 101F. I use the tub at least five times per week. Hope this helps you.
  14. Paint-Silverfish-Dnjsdad you are simply unbelieveable, I don't think I can argue with that rational....comparing your bathtub to your hot tub is an interesting comparison to say the least. Ever notice how you drain the water every time you use the bathtub? Okay here is a scenario to ponder; Once you dump some bubble bath in your spa and have a good long bubble party how long and how much effort is going to be required to purge the soapy residue from all your plumbing, pumps and shell surfaces? How are your chemicals going to react with the soap? I think it would be not a wise move.
