  1. I got my new Taylor K-2005 test kit yesterday. What a difference!!!!! I was able to pin point my problem and correct it very quickly. I would recommend everyone get this kit. Just my 2 cents I thought I would pass along.
  2. Nice topic choice.... For me, being in Michigan and in the middle of winter, I'm finding out it's not cheap to run my spa. My filter runs 3 times a day 2 hours each time. Heater only runs when the filtration is going or when I'm using it. Since I'm not a metric guy, and I'm lazy, I'll give my dummy american numbers. My spa is small, only 280 gallons, 220v heater. As of now, in the winter months, my bill is avgeraging an extra $70 per month than what I am used to. A few months I have hit $100. This came when I filled it and ran the heater for a long time to get it to temp. Air temps in Michigan have been mild until the past two weeks, I'm cringing as to what next month's bill will be. I keep my tub at 104 degrees and air temp has been around 32-40 degrees. Like I said though, the past few weeks it's been freezing here. Highs have been around 6 degrees and lows below zero. My bill is actually alot higher than what I was told as well....I was told to expect and extra $30 a month LOL Hope this helps.
  3. wow....thanks guys...Especially about the winter top off. We just had a temp drop here in Mich and my water level dropped too. I was panicking I cracked a pipe. I do run it 3 times a day about 2 hours each time and keep the temp kinda high...probably higher than I should...as my electric bills attest to Thanks again....
  4. Hey gang- I'm curious about water evaporation. I don't THINK I have a leak, but about every 6 weeks I have to do a LITTLE top off to my tub. So, the question is, what is normal evaporation...or, is there supposed to be any?? I can only give a guess as to how much I put in...maybe 5-10 gallons. What's normal??? I use my tub 2-3 times a week if that means anything....Thanks....
  5. I've used it...it didn't work for me.....good luck .
  6. I'm not a water genius nor do I claim to be. I'm still very new to this but I can say a few things I'm sure of. Cleanwater Blue did not work at all for me. I follwed the instructions to the letter, and I'm very *** about things. Several weeks into using the products my water was cloudy as heck and just didn't seem right. Secondly, I'm not saying the guy is a God, but the advice Waterbear gave to me was accurate as heck. I followed his instructions to the letter he gave to me, my water is clear, clean, no strong chlorine smell, in balance and all using supplies I buy form the grocery store. I'm into my 5th month using his advice. 6 months since I've had this tub. If I was to make an educated opinion, I would say to listen to waterbear. That's just my two cents, I'm glad it's working for you, it didn't for me.
  7. 3-4 months is the norm....I got my tub in Sept....drained in Nov (thanskgiving)...will do it again when we thaw here in Mich. in March (I hope)..... Time frame for your water to heat up is just about right. I have a smaller tub and my water was at 50 when I filled and it took 8 hours. My November bill was through the roof....wife is still on my case for that. Everything I have read and been told say 3-4 months. Just keep up with your sanitizer....
  8. From a first hand newbie experience myself...don't get sucked in like I did with that stuff....hopefully waterbear will reply to you about care as he did for me....but stay away from clean water blue and listen to whatever waterbear tells you !!!! I'm too new and still learning myself to give any advice right now except to stay away from that stuff......
  9. So..in a nutshell.... I should tonight use 2tbsp. of Dichlor....every time I use it 1tsp. and monitor my ph and TA then right ?? Do I still need the see klear?? What about scale reducer?? Any other opinions?? I'm open to all....I bought the cleanwater blue system...I'm looking for straight forward answers how I should take care of my tub if this is not the correct/best/cheapest/easiest way. thanks.....
  10. Hi guys/ladies- Found this on a web search so I hope you can help. Neighbor gave me her old hot tub. 300 gallon leisure rite. Put some love into it and got it up and going. Flushed the system 3 times..once with spa system flush. Cleaned the shell...finally filled. I choose to use Cleanwater Blue...yes, I have read the other posts about it. I've done everything by the book. Including Sea Klear. Started great, of course. Almost two weeks into it now with some decent use, and my water is cloudy and I get a bubble bath. Here are the specifics: 60PPM TA....7.4 PH...copper .9PPM. I use a Zorbo foam thing as well. I use 1-2 tablespoon of non chlorine shock every time I use it. I've read the other posts on here and I have used dichlor once per week...1 teaspoon. Am I over doing it on my chemicals ?? Any ideas...hopes?? Other than ditching cleanwater blue....I'm going to give it a shot for a while. Last night I added 2 teaspoon full of dichlor and 2 oz. of sea klear. I did not check it this morning...one more thing..I filter for 6 hours...2 hours 3 times a day.
