Desiree Posted June 24, 2014 Report Share Posted June 24, 2014 Just refilled hot tub for the first time using the Dichlor/Bleach method. Only thing that is off is CH. Can I use a household product to raise this or do I need to hit the store for Calcium increaser. Hot tub is 325 gallons and current CH is 50. Thanks in advance! The response was the following: You can use Dowflake (calcium chloride dihydrate) or Peladow (calcium chloride anhydrous) if you want, but it's usually easier to get Calcium Hardness increaser from a pool or spa store since you don't need that much -- just enough to get to 120-150 ppm to prevent foaming. To increase the CH by 100 ppm in a 350 gallon spa only requires 5.2 ounces weight (about 4.1 fluid ounces volume) of Peladow or 6.9 ounces weight (about 7.9 fluid ounces volume) of Dowflake.
